Daddy’s Fortitude

She decided to search through the things that Kirsten had gotten for her.

Yesterday afternoon, after everyone had left, she’d actually fallen asleep on the sofa. She’d woken up briefly for dinner and then Ammo tucked her into bed. She hadn’t remembered him coming to bed or leaving the next morning, which had felt a little bit weird, if she was honest.

Aimee guessed he’d slept beside her, but she wished she knew. She wished she had a memory of it. She wouldn’t have minded snuggling up against him.

At least she hadn’t had a nightmare last night. Maybe she was already getting over the fire. That would be amazing if she was.

Pulling out the pack that Kirsten had packed for her, she looked inside. Ammo had already unpacked most of the clothes, so there were only a few things left to put in the closet. It was amazing to think that Kirsten’s grandfather had built this place himself.

Ammo was outside making some calls. They were still waiting on Branson to get back to them about the fire, and Miles was still doing his own research into it and who the ‘big boss’ was. She wasn’t entirely certain who Miles was. She only knew that he worked for Zander, the same as Ammo did.

In the bottom of the bag, she found a new phone, and hallelujah, a new e-reader. She opened it up with a squeal, but saw that she needed to sign in. That was okay, except she couldn’t remember her sign-in details. Instead, she turned to her phone. It was a new phone, so she’d have to set it up as well.

After a few attempts, she managed to remember all of her setup details, and got her phone working.

Immediately, it started to beep and vibrate, and shock filled her as she saw the number of text messages appear along with voicemails.

She started to look through the text messages first. They were from a number of people in town. Wow. They were all checking in with her, wanting to see if she was okay. Some of them she didn’t think were genuine, but she was pretty sure that others were, like Jeremy and his parents.

Aimee sent messages back to the people that she knew were genuine. She was feeling a bit overwhelmed. She turned her phone back off after getting the password for her e-reader account. Then she set that all up and decided to settle in on the couch and read a book.

Ammo stepped into the cabin and glanced around, spotting her fast asleep on the sofa. She had an e-reader on top of her, and he walked over to ease it out of her hand gently. The screen flickered on, and he couldn’t help but glance down at the words on the screen.

His eyebrows lifted as he realized it was a Daddy Dom book. In this scene, the Daddy was scolding the Little for running off without permission in a shop. He read on a bit further as the Daddy took her into a private area, put her over his knee, and spanked her ass. Hmm. That gave him a few ideas. He glanced at the name of the book and the author, and his eyebrow rose. CJ Bennett, huh?

He happened to know that CJ Bennett was a pen name, and that the author actually lived on Sanctuary Ranch with her two Daddy Doms.

Ammo wondered if his girl would like to meet her one day.

He also wondered if she’d like to spend a bit of time in Little headspace. This might be a chance to explore that dynamic since wasn’t much else to do here.

He wanted to be out there doing things, not stuck in a cabin in the woods.

When he found that bastard that threatened her, he was going to make him pay.

Nobody threatened Ammo’s girl.

He set the e-reader to one side and put a blanket over Aimee.

She’d slept well last night, but he guessed her body was still healing and catching up on sleep.

He’d let her sleep, but later, it might be time to experiment.

Aimee woke up to the smell of something cooking. Sitting up, she stretched and looked around her, feeling slightly disoriented, until she realized she was in Kirsten’s cabin.

There was a blanket over her, and her e-reader was sitting on the coffee table. Had she set it there before she’d fallen asleep? She couldn’t remember, but she was pretty certain that she hadn’t put a blanket over herself, which meant Ammo must have.

Getting up, she used the bathroom and took a few moments to check herself in the mirror. Then she moved into the kitchen, where she found him plating up some food. There were only two plates, and she wondered about Webb.

“Evening, I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” She hoped that she hadn’t snored.

“You must have needed it.”

“Is Webb not joining us?” she asked.

“No,” he said, as he turned and nodded toward the small dining table in the kitchen. “Have a seat.”

“What’s he eating?”
