“Don’t start apologizing. I’ll figure out what I need by myself.”

I dialed Enzo and told him to meet me at the mall. “Come, let’s go to the food court and I’ll get your favorite dessert.” A smile brightened my wife’s precious face. I shot Enzo a message. We’ll be in the food court.

We grabbed two slices of cake from the one shop and sat down, waiting for him. The girls dug into their treats. “How come you didn’t get any?”

“I’m not hungry.”

“Please have a bite,” Mariana begged gently. I could never tell her no, so I opened my mouth as she slid the fork between my lips. A moan escaped her lips, and I understood her emotions weren’t all negative. My wife needed some special comfort. Just then Pio appeared to Cassie’s side.

“I summoned Enzo,” I remarked.

“He was busy.” His eyes lingered on my wife’s friend a little too long to be polite.

“I need you to escort Ms. Shannon around the mall until she finds what she needs.”

“Oh you don’t have to do that.” He pulled up a seat next to her and sat.

“Don’t argue with the boss. Finish your cake, and I’ll take you shopping.”

When Mariana finished hers, we said our goodbyes, and the ladies hugged. As we got into the waiting car, Mariana said, “He likes her, doesn’t he?”

“Looks like it.” I nodded. He couldn’t have been any more obvious, but I didn’t blame him. When you’re obsessed, claim your woman before someone else does and you have to kill them.

“Well, he should be aware she’s buying a dress for a date.”

“Are you trying to get some man killed?”

“I have nothing to do with it. I was just warning you, so Pio doesn’t go bananas when he finds out.”

“Good to know.” I shot him a message with that important detail.

His response was fast. Thanks. I’ll have it handled.

Our bodyguard met us at the front entrance after a quick message from me. I sat her in the back and then slid in beside her. “Take us home,” I said.

“Yes, Boss.”

“Will you stay with me, or do you have to return to work?”

“I’m all yours, amore mio.” I brushed my lips against her hair and wrapped her in my embrace. “Now, Wife, how about you tell me what happened?”

“My brother wanted me to stop you from bankrupting them.”

“Oh, and I take it you gave him an answer he didn’t like?”

“I told him that I had no control over my husband.”

I made a laughing scoff. “Little liar.” She shrugged.

“That’s when he got angry and you arrived.” I should have broken his arm for touching my wife. The thought of her or the baby being injured infuriated me. Still, he will pay, but someone inside could handle him. If I wasn’t worried about her feelings, I would have dragged him out back and shot the bastard.

“Let me see your wrist.” I picked up and examined the area, bringing it to my lips for a kiss. “He won’t hurt you again.”

“Are you going to kill him?”

“I should, but that’s up to you.”

“Can you like send him to prison or something?”
