“Hmm.”

I know that out of everyone, he will be the one pushing for me to leave. He made it quite clear Enzo doesn’t make alliances with people like me in the last meeting. Enzo wants an LA without the Milano family, and I’m the one standing in his way. That’s what I’ve heard through the grapevine.

Harper comes and sits next to me while Colt helps Ace with the food. “How was Greece?” she asks.

“Beautiful and productive,” I tell her.

We’ve been texting since the girls' night; I’m actually in the group chat with her, Lola, and Violet now. Not that I’ve seen Violet much around. I want to make an effort to get to know her too.

“And how is it with Colten?” she whispers.

I smile. “What exactly do you want to know, Harper?”

“Well, it’s cute he’s bringing you to family day. So that’s a good sign.”

There it is again, that word, cute.

“I don’t know, he’s got a weird obsession with making sure I eat. He might be dragging me here to watch me have dinner,” I joke.

I have noticed him watching me, but my relationship with food is fine; I have the little triggers about leaving my plate.

Harper’s face drops. “You don’t eat?”

“Long story. But, yes, I do eat.”

I feel Romeo’s stare at the side of my head, so I turn to face him to confirm. He matches my stare.

“Did you want to talk to me, Romeo?” I ask, loud enough for the whole yard to hear.

He smirks. “Ti sto guardando.” I’m watching you.

I grin sweetly in response. “Vuoi che metta in scena uno spettacolo?” Would you like me to put on a show?

He clenches his jaw as the table falls silent.

“So offrire uno spettacolo migliore con tuo marito; chiediglielo.” I can put on a better show with your husband; ask him.

As if on cue, Colten places down a tray of meat in the middle of the table. Romeo looks right at him, then back at me and winks.

All the blood drains from my face. No. Fucking. Way.

“What did Romeo say to you?” Harper whispers in my ear.

“I-I need to pee,” I rush the words out and stand, almost throwing the chair on the floor as I stumble back.

I race back inside, find the first bathroom, and slam it shut and lock it.

Colten and Romeo?

My husband is gay? Is all of this a big setup to make me fall for him so they can ruin my family?

There’s a light knock at the door, and I ignore it.

Gianna Milano does not cry. And she certainly doesn’t let a man upset her. And Lord help Colt if I find out this is all an act.

“G, let me in.” Harper’s sweet voice carries through the door.

Reluctantly, I unlock it, and she walks in, sitting on the closed toilet seat, hands on her bump. “Gianna, what did Romeo say?”
