“There’s some totes in there, on the top shelf, that I need you to grab.”
He nods. “Show me which ones and I’ll get them.”
We head into the small walk-in closet and I point to the shoebox sized totes shoved in the back corner of the closet. “I’m not sure which ones have my things and which ones have his things in them anymore so we’ll need to check them but there should be four or five up there that are mine.”
I follow him to the back of the closet, peeking over his shoulder as he pulls the first one down and opens it. It’s full of crystals, macrame wall hangings and other cute little decor pieces that I love.
“That’s mine.”
He’s fighting back a grin. “Clearly, babe.”
“All right,” I say with a laugh, giving him a tiny little shove. “You never know. Maybe they were his.”
“Then, he’s gay,’ he shoots back as he sets the first tote down on the floor next to me and I laugh, giving him another shove. I trip over one of the shoes on the floor and fall into him. His arms instantly wrap around me, stopping my fall.
“Sorry,” I say with a chuckle, my cheeks heating as I look up at him.
“God, you’re fucking beautiful,” he whispers, staring at me so intently that the smile melts right off my face. I place my hand on his chest in an attempt to right myself but I don’t push away. One of his hands presses against my ribs and the other grips my hip. His chest heaves and his blue gaze drops to my lips.
But he doesn’t take the opportunity.
He could if he wanted to.
I wouldn’t stop him.
But he doesn’t.
His eyes find mine again and all I can hear is the pounding of my pulse in my ears.
Kiss a man just because you feel like it.
Morgan’s words race through my head again and I tear my gaze away from Dalton’s eyes to look at his full lips and before I can stop myself, I lean in and take what I want.
He’s still, so still I’m certain I misread this, and then he moves. One hand slips up to hold the back of my head as he returns the kiss with all the enthusiasm I was praying for.
His tongue flicks against the seam of my lips, demanding access, and I grant it willingly. He takes control and yet, he and I are moving perfectly in sync. Like we’ve done this one hundred times before.
I’m lost.
Lost in him.
Lost in the hottest, most amazing kiss I’ve ever experienced in my damn life.
And then something crashes into the back of my mind.
Owen.
We’re in Owen’s apartment right now and he could come back at any time.
I jerk away from Dalton, my chest heaving and my heart thundering in my ears. When I look up at him, his brows are furrowed and he’s searching my face, concern filling his blue eyes. I smile.
“We need to go before he comes back.”
Awareness fills his gaze and he looks around the little closet we’re standing in before he nods and releases me. But not without another quick glance at my mouth.
Does Dalton want me just as much as I want him?
I think I have my answer.
