Or why the hell his plan was when he tried to run us off the goddamn road.
And what does he fucking want.
Because this asshole hasn’t been standing outside her apartment and running us off the road for no goddam reason and there is a part of me that knows the reason is fucking important.
By the time we pull into the parking lot of Lennon’s old apartment complex, I feel like I grabbed a live wire. I’ve been sitting around for two damn days, thinking, contemplating, arguing with Lennon over this man and what he’s done. And I’m not a man who sits around just thinking a whole lot.
“Hey,” Jumper calls as I turn my bike off and I turn to him. He motions for me a take a breath and I roll my eyes. He pins me with a glare. “Dude, I’m serious. You look like you’re about to murder this fucker.”
“I need answers.”
He nods. “Yeah, fair. But take a fucking breath, first.”
I dramatically suck in a breath and then flash him a look.
“Happy, mom?”
“Not even remotely,” he growls as he climbs off his bike and I do the same, looking up at the apartment where Lennon kissed me for the first time.
Damn.
That’s a good memory.
Probably one of the only ones she has from this place and that thought makes my vision tunnel on the front door.
“Let’s do this.”
I don’t wait for them as I begin marching across the grass to the set of metal stairs up to the second floor, my heart pounding in my ears.
They’ll catch up.
When we reach the top of the stairs, Jumper grabs my arm and spins me around to face him. “What is your plan here?”
“Go in there, get answers and make him hurt so bad that he never comes near Lennon again.”
It’s a fairly simple plan.
I don’t know why he’s acting like we need to think this through.
Before he can say anything else, I turn back to the door and pound my fist into it. Something clatters from inside the apartment but then it goes quiet.
My fingers twitch.
Come on, asshole.
I slam my fist into the door again with more force.
“Fuck.” The word is barely audible but I heard it.
Answer the door, motherfucker.
The entire frame shakes when I pound the door this time and then, I hear footsteps and suck in a breath. The door opens a crack and I shove it, sending it flying back into Owen. He stumbles back before falling to his ass.
“Hey, asshole,” I say, walking into the apartment as he scrambles back away from the door, his eyes wide.
“What the fuck?” he asks, his words slurred. “Why are you h-here?”
I tilt my head and narrow my eyes. “Why am I here? You think you can try to run Lennon and I off the road and I won’t show up?”
