If nothing goes wrong, it’s a damn good plan.

“Let’s load up,” Storm calls, drawing all our attention to him. “We need to get moving.”

“Where’s Derek?”

Storm glances over at me. “At his office. Streak said he’s been there all morning.”

I nod.

Good.

One less thing to worry about.

“Kodiak and Moose got eyes on him?” I ask and Storm sighs. He’s fed up with my shit these past two days and I can’t even fucking blame him but I need to know. I need to make sure that this goes off without a hitch.

“They watched him go into the building and they’ve been watching it all morning.”

I clench my teeth. “That’s not eyes on him.”

“It’s the best we’re going to get, Rooster,” he snaps back, pinning me with a look I know all too well. The one that says I’d better watch myself. “They can’t exactly walk into his law office and post up in his fucking waiting room.”

“Heard,” I bite out with a nod.

I don’t fucking like it.

But he’s right.

“Let’s go,” Storm snaps, turning to everyone else and as they all start loading into the van or climbing on their bikes, I pull Lennon into me. Her arms wrap around my waist and she sighs as she melts into me slightly.

“Don’t leave the compound,” I tell her and she nods. We haven’t been outside these walls since Owen chased us and I don’t want her out there until I finish dealing with him.

“I won’t, babe. I promise.”

I nod, taking in a breath. “I got something to handle after we get Raya dropped off but I shouldn’t be too long.”

“Dalton-”

“No,” I say, cutting her off. She and I have gone back and forth for the past two days about how we handle Owen. There is no doubt that he was the one chasing us and I told him when he cornered her at the street fair that his days were fucking numbered. I don’t make empty promises and I will not stand for this shit.

He could have hurt her.

He could have fucking killed her and that cannot stand.

“I’m ending this, baby,” I say, cradling her face in my hand and forcing her gaze to mine. Her eyes search mine before she lets out a sigh.

“Isn’t there some other way?”

I shake my head. “You haven’t come up with a better suggestion either, sweetheart.”

“I know,” she whispers, turning to look over at the front gate of the compound. The chase really fucking shook her up but she doesn’t want to see me get blood on my hands. I will do whatever the hell it takes to make sure this animal never comes near Lennon again. Make sure he understand with blinding clarity that he has no fucking claim over her anymore.

That is my mission today.

“Please be careful,” she says, turning to look back at me. She grips my t-shirt and pulls me into her. “I need you back whole.”

I nod, leaning in and pressing my lips to her before pulling back and resting my forehead on hers. “Heard, baby.”

“Rooster,” Storm calls, my last warning before he officially loses his shit with me. I steal one more kiss before stepping back.
