“That’s cheating,” I tell her and her brow pull together in confusion but her damn eyes give her away. She’s knows exactly what she’s doing and she’s enjoying every second of it.
I’m so so fucked.
“What’s cheating, baby? I just want to know where we’re going.”
I narrow my eyes. “You’re a witch.”
“Why do you say that?”
“You know exactly why I say that,” I answer, leaning in and pressing my lips to hers. She hums at the contact and leans into me. When I pull back, she meets my gaze and her brow quirks up in question.
“So?”
I sigh. “Well, I was thinking we could go for a ride and maybe stop by a little Mexican food truck along the river that you really really liked.”
“What?” she asks, a little breathless as she looks up at me and a smile slowly spreads across her face. “Are we recreating our first date right now?”
“There is no fight tonight,” I tell her, leaning in to plant kisses in between my words. “But, I’d be more than happy to bring you home and recreate what happened in the trailer that night.”
“Yes, please,” she sighs, her body leaning into mine more. I laugh and grab her leather jacket off the seat.
“This goes on then, baby.”
She groans. “You always gotta ruin a moment.”
I laugh as she snatches the jacket from me and tugs it on, her annoyance from earlier coming back full force as soon as the leather is coating her skin.
“I’m going to look like a drowned rat on our date.”
I flash her a grin and hold my hand out to her so she can climb on the bike. “But the cutest fucking drowned rat ever.”
“Dalton,” she gasps, shaking her head. “That is not helping.”
I laugh as she climbs onto the bike and plant one more kiss to her lips before I climb on the bike in front of her. Her arms wrap around me and I release a breath. Nothing has ever felt as right as Lennon on the back of my bike. As the engine rumbles to life beneath me and we start heading toward the gate, Storm’s words come back to me.
You officially claiming that?
I never thought I would have a relationship, let alone one that I would consider making more permanent. Having an old lady was never something I saw for myself, but with Lennon, it just fits. It’s like I told her - I want her in my life, in our home, at my side.
If that’s not an old lady, I don’t know what is.
But we’re not quite there yet.
One day at a time.
As soon as the gate opens enough, I slip through and head toward town. There are dark clouds in the distance and I just hope the storm will hold off until we’re back home.
A dark blue sedan turns onto the road behind us and I pull the throttle back, putting a little more distance between us. The sedan speeds up. I pull the same move again and the sedan follows suit.
What the fuck?
I keep an eye on the sedan in the side mirror as I pull the throttle back harder, sending the bike shooting down the road in front of me. Lennon’s grip tightens on my stomach and I reach down to give her hand a squeeze.
Hang on, baby.
My heart thunders in my chest as the sedan increases it’s speed to catch up with me until it’s two car lengths behind me again. I ease off the throttle, letting the bike slow down slightly, expecting the sedan to do the same.
He speeds up.
