Ryan
I giggle as I’m reading his words and when I look up, three pairs of eyes are staring at me.
“What?” I ask, looking around at Addy, Daisy, and Trey.
“Let me see it,” Addy demands and I hand it over to her.
“From the cop?” Trey asks again.
“Yeah.” I’m unable to wipe the stupid grin off my face.
“What handbook?” Addy asks when she finishes reading.
“I made a joke last night that he must have a handbook at home that tells him how to sweep a girl off her feet.”
A grin slowly curls her lips. “Oh, he’s good.”
“Yeah.”
“I don’t like this,” Trey growls. Snapping out of my happy thoughts, I roll my eyes and turn to glare at him.
“Why, Trey? Why is it a bad thing that he likes me?”
“He’s just too smooth.”
I shake my head and ignore him.
“Oh, back to why we originally came here,” Daisy cuts in. “We’re taking you out tonight.”
“Guys, I really can’t. Moe needs me here.”
“Moe!” Addy hollers and Moe’s head snaps up. “Can we take her?” She points to me and pouts. She’s so ridiculous.
“Absolutely. Girl needs a night off.”
I growl at Moe. He knows I need all the money I can get while I’m saving up for my car.
“I need the money,” I say to no one in particular.
“I’ll pay you for the hours you were gonna work tonight,” Moe offers. My eyes narrow on him.
“No, you will not!”
“All right, fine, but get out of here before I change my mind.”
Ugh. I guess I have no choice. I grab my flowers off the bar and turn back to the girls.
“Well, let’s go, I guess.”
We all pile into Addy’s car and head back over to my apartment to get ready, singing along to some cheesy pop song from the nineties. When we get to my place, Addy and Daisy plop down on my sofa as I start sorting through my closet.
“What about this one, Daisy?” I ask, holding out a short little red dress that will look killer on her. She wrinkles her nose and I fight back a laugh. Daisy is gorgeous but she doesn’t really like to get all dressed up and flaunt it. “I think it’d look really good on you.”
She forces a smile to her face and nods.
“So,” Addy prompts, leaning back into the couch. “I want to hear all about this date with the handsome Ryan.”
At the mention of his name, I can’t help but smile – a blush creeping up my cheeks.
