“Emma, baby, I love you but what the fuck are you talkin’ about right now? You are everything I need. I only want these things with you.”

I shake my head against his chest. “You could find someone so much better.”

His arms squeeze me and he snaps. “Emma! Listen to me, stop doing this. I want you, baby.” He takes a deep breath and runs his fingers through my hair. His muscles relax as he does it so I just let him. After a second, he sighs and kisses the top of my head. “You know what I think?”

“Huh?”

“I think maybe this stuff with that douchebag is really starting to get to you, yeah?”

“Maybe,” I agree, nodding my head.

“Just relax, sweetheart. We will move in together when the time is right. Don’t stress so much, okay?”

Before I can say anything, I hear Tucker and Trey calling for us from the living room. We both sigh at the same time and I start to giggle.

“I so planned on this shower going a little differently.” At the disgruntled look on his face, I giggle some more. “Just a minute!” he yells to my brothers as he turns me to face the shower head again.

“Hurry! It’s important!”

Dread immediately washes over me and Nix’s hands clench my shoulders. Whatever is out there waiting for us, it’s not going to be good.
