He caught me easily, as if I weighed nothing, his big palms spread wide on the back of my thighs and the blunt tip of his cock notched against where my pussy wept for him. “Take it,” he demanded.

I nodded, licking my lips as I rose up and lowered myself on this thick length one agonizing inch at a time. My eyes slammed shut and my head fell back. “So good,” I whispered.

“Fuck,” he bit out as I pulsed around him. Knox gave me just one second to adjust to his size before he started to move. He wasn’t gentle either, he was a man completely motivated by desire. Every drag of his cock against my walls pushed me to a place I never knew existed. Every stroke rattled the door and pulled a feral sound from my lips.

“Knox,” I moaned against his mouth, body already quivering as my orgasm built at the bottom of my feet.

“Look at you,” he panted. “Taking me so fucking well. You feel that, baby? That’s mine. You’re mine.”

That possession hit me somewhere deep. I liked it, but more than that I wanted it to be true. “Yours,” I said and I realized, as the words left my mouth that I meant it. I was his, as much as I could be. “Yours,” I said again and again, that one word seemed to make him crazy.

“Good girl,” he whispered, licking the column of my neck, swirling his tongue against my pulse. “Now, I want you to come all over my cock. I want to feel your greedy cunt pulsing around me, milking me dry.”

“Dirty,” I moaned seconds before I shattered completely. My body shook and trembled, every inch of my skin was like exposed nerve endings, so sensitive I couldn’t stop the sounds I made or the way I clung to him.

“That’s it. That’s my girl, you look so fuckin’ pretty when you come all over my cock.” His hips moved faster and deeper, pushing into my quivering pussy until he stilled with my name on his lips, as his cock filled me gloriously.

I don’t know how long we stayed like that, pinned together against the door, both of us shaking, his heart going like a hammer where my hand was splayed over his chest. “That was… perfect.”

Knox grinned and it was a beautiful grin, equal parts bad boy and nice guy. He carried me to bed eventually, curling his warm body around mine with one hand resting low on my body. It was affectionate and possessive.

I liked it.

“You’re perfect,” he whispered before pressing a kiss to my temple before I drifted off to sleep, my dreams filled with thoughts of Knox and the future we could have together.

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Knox

Ivy was quiet the next morning in a way that made me uncomfortable. We checked out before the sun was all the way up, both of us running on motel coffee and not nearly enough fucking sleep. Now the road unspooled in front of us once again, flat and straight and seemingly endless. She held herself close, arms wrapped around her middle and knees pressed together so tight I knew they’d bruise after too long. She worked her thumbnail anxiously between her teeth.

I gave her an hour because something about all of this bothered me too, I just had more experience hiding my emotions than my wife did. Each mile that zipped by put us closer to whatever we would encounter in Reno. I lived long enough to know that answers buried this deep were never simple or easy or gentle. Whatever it was, it was gonna change shit for Ivy as much as the MC.

“What are you worried about?” I finally asked the question when it was clear she wasn’t going to give up willingly.

She sighed heavily and turned to face me. “Honestly?”

I gave one sharp nod, letting my gaze connect with hers just long enough to give my answer meaning. “Always.”

She studied me back for a long moment before she finally answered. “I don’t know…” She shrugged, still looking out at the desert as we flew past it. “I just have that anxious feeling in my gut and I can’t explain why. I mean, what if this is a trap?”

I laughed. “You think Rex is that good?”

“No.” She shook her head. “But what if whoever this person is just kills whoever comes looking for Carla Price? You didn’t find anything on that PI, did you?” Her teeth sank into her bottom lip, the way I learned meant she was seriously worried about this outcome.

“Shit.” That stopped me, because it was a good point and one I hadn’t considered. A woman tied to Rex and living on money from a dead heiress might not take too kindly to an unexpected knock on her door. I was so locked in on what we’d find that I hadn’t stopped to think it might be waiting for us. “You have a paranoid mind, you know that?” It was a compliment.

She gave a bitter half-smile. “Yeah, I know. I mean I never knew what Rex would do next, so I had to guess what he might do.”

I really fucking hated hearing about her life with Rex. Hated it so much I could taste it on my tongue, hot like rage and acidic like bile. I reached across the console and took her hand, not because she needed it but because I did. Because I had to feel for myself that she was here, that she was whole and breathing, and that the worst thing that had ever—would ever—happen to her was behind us. “Rex is an asshole,” I spat out because I had to let go of some of that rage and that was the easiest path.

“Yeah,” she agreed with a laugh. “He is an asshole. A cruel asshole.”

“I know we haven’t talked about it,” I began, suddenly nervous, “but the shit you went through? The shit he did to you? None of that is normal, Ivy. It’s not fucking normal. It ain’t right, either. And most of all, you didn’t fuckin’ deserve it.” My hands gripped the wheel so tight my knuckles burned. “I hope you know that.”

She was quiet for a long time, and I thought maybe I stepped wrong. “Yeah,” she sighed eventually. “I do know it, Knox. It took me a long time to learn that it wasn’t my fault and I didn’t deserve it, but I always knew it wasn’t normal.” She laughed softly and reached out to put her hand on my forearm. “Thank you for saying so.”

Despite it all, learning to survive her fucking father, there was still this kindness and softness about her that I admired. “You ever thought about killing him?” I had that thought too many fucking times to count, and even more since Ivy came into my life.
