The Life of a Daddy

“I didn’t knock,” Lissa said.

“Huh. Must’ve been something else. Okay. I’ll see you in a bit.”

Tessa watched as Damon retreated back inside and closed the door with a soft click before turning the deadbolt lock. Turning around, he said, “Well, that sort of changes things, I suppose.”

Tessa laughed nervously. “Hey, it’s no big deal. I need to change, so this looks realistic. I can’t just stroll out wearing the same outfit. It won’t bother me. I’m sure it won’t you, either. We’re mature. Just two adults here.” She grinned. “Never mind the fact that I’m putting on a diaper and frilly dress.”

This drew a laugh from him. “Won’t bother me a bit. I’ll just turn around and face the wall. Let you do your thing.” He stepped closer, honest concern evident. “That is, if you’re sure this doesn’t make you uncomfortable. If it does, please tell me. There is zero pressure here. I’ll call the whole thing off.”

Tessa searched his eyes and only found earnestness.

With a soft smile, she shook her head. “No reason to call it off. I’m good.”

“You sure?”

“I promise. I’d tell you if I wasn’t.”

“Okay. Then…” After another moment, Damon turned toward the wall.

“I’m just going to grab this diaper, put it on the changing table, and slide my pants off,” Tessa said. After clearing her throat, she added, “I’m not sure why I’m narrating things. Sorry.”

“It’s all good. And I’ll just stare at the wall.” He cast a devilish grin over his shoulder, their eyes meeting while they both started laughing.

His smile disappeared though when he said, “Sorry. I actually should be looking at the wall. I didn’t mean to—”

“Don’t worry about it,” she said. “Clothes are still on. As evident by the fact that you aren’t throwing up.”

“Hey now, little girl. That kind of talk is uncalled for. Understand?”

Was the act suddenly back on or was it natural because he was a Daddy and she was a Little?

Tessa didn’t know, but it did cause butterflies of excitement to flutter in her stomach.

“Sorry,” she muttered.

“Just watch it from now on.”

The diaper seemed to rustle louder than it should have as she unfolded it and smoothed it out on the adult-sized changing table.

“This one isn’t that different than the one in Auntie Athena’s nursery.”

“The diaper or the table?”

“Table.” After thinking about it, she threw in, “And the diaper, probably. She has all kinds. This morning she had me in a Mountainville Supreme.”

“Those are great.”

“So thick and fluffy!” she agreed.

By this time, Tessa had walked up the wooden steps and was laying on the thin mattress of the table, lowering her bottom on the diaper she’d placed there. She fumbled with the positioning and tapes for a minute.

She wasn’t aware that she’d sighed or groaned, but she must have somehow revealed her frustration because Damon said, “Do you need help?”

Tessa froze.

Nothing would make her happier than for Damon to turn around and take care of her.

But would that be crossing a line? They’d just met a day before. And while they were becoming fast friends, drawn together by their common goal, this was something else altogether.
