“Okay, seriously. Where has this ridiculous dorky sense of humor been hiding?” Jimmy laughed, shaking his head in disbelief.

“It’s been around.” Cold leaned in to steal a quick kiss. “Get dressed. I’ll see you downstairs.”

Jimmy put on a pair of sweatpants and a white T-shirt, then brushed his teeth, grinning at himself in the mirror.

Life was pretty damn good.

He hurried down the stairs to the kitchen, singing under his breath. He could hear Jules and Jerry fighting in a mixture of volatile French and English while Cold snickered as he sipped a cup of coffee from his perch at the center island. Jerry had already begun to fix plates, waving his spatula at Jules and screaming at him as he tried to steal a handful of bacon.

“I don’t even care what you’re saying! Voo-juhhhh-whatever!” Jules roared back. “Don’t fuckin’ care! I’ve got a fuckin’ date tonight, and you’re not gonna ruin my good mood!”

“Date?” Jimmy sat down next to Cold, giving a thankful nod to Jerry for the food.

Jerry mumbled something in French and returned to stirring the eggs still in the pan.

Beaming, Jules looked proud. “I was finally successful in wooin’ Doc Queen, and now she’s gonna go on a real fuckin’ date with me.”

“You mean she felt sorry for you and agreed to one date if it meant you’d finally leave her alone, you uncultured twat,” Jerry sneered, angrily scooping eggs onto Jimmy’s plate.

“Someone is fuckin’ jealous!” Jules laughed triumphantly as he snatched another piece of bacon. “All ’cause the better man has won!”

Speaking rapidly to Cold in French, Jerry gestured to Jules while he finished serving their food.

“Ah, je sais,” Cold sighed, waving as if to dismiss Jerry. “Tu peux y aller.”

“Merci, monsieur.” Jerry huffed as he stalked out of the kitchen.

Jules chuckled, giving Cold and Jimmy a big grin. “Now, the better man is gonna go get ready for his fuckin’ date. You good, Boss?”

“Very good.” Cold smirked. “Hope you two kids have a lovely time.”

“See ya later!” Jules said cheerfully, then waved at Jimmy. “Bye, Twig!”

“Bye, Jules,” Jimmy replied through a bite of eggs. “What was that about?”

“They’re both admirers of our dear Madeline Queen,” Cold said, opting for more coffee instead of actually eating. “That’s what they always fight about. And Jerry is disappointed that Jules was successful where he was not. And a bunch of other things about Jules’ questionable genetics.”

“How many languages do you speak?”

“Mm, four.” Cold shrugged, as if it was nothing to be excited about. “English, of course. Italian, French, and some very poor Russian.”

“I always thought French was a very beautiful language. It doesn’t matter what you’re saying. It just sounds so pretty.”

“Mmm, Je suis emmanché comme un taureau,” Cold purred delightfully.

“See? No clue what that means, but it sounds beautiful.”

“Je veux te lécher de la tête jusqu’aux pieds.” Cold’s eyes roamed over Jimmy’s body hungrily.

“Okay, pretty sure that one was dirty.” Jimmy giggled, laughing louder when Cold scooted closer to him.

“Tu me fais bander,” Cold said seductively, waggling his eyebrows and moving in to kiss slowly along Jimmy’s neck.

“That one was totally and definitely dirty.” Jimmy sighed, eyes fluttering closed. He gasped as Cold grabbed his neck.

Cold pressed their foreheads together and kissed Jimmy. “Je t’aime.”

Jimmy glanced up. “Wh-what does that one mean?”
