That gets my attention. “Mercer?”
“Still in Blackridge. Nothing's changed.”
Some of the tension leaves my shoulders.
My eyes narrow. “Then why did Bishop send you?”
“Wanted me to bring you something.” He reaches into his jacket and pulls out an envelope.
I take it. “What is it?”
“Everything we have on Calder so far. Bishop figured you'd want hard copies.”
I nod. Makes sense.
Behind me, Callie says, “Any pictures of Calder’s Mustang?”
Beck's eyes shift to her, then back to me. “You told her?”
“She was on the call.”
His eyebrows go up again.
“Stop doing that with your face.”
“I'm not doing anything with my face.”
“You're doing a lot with your face.”
Callie walks between us. “Roman put Bishop on speaker.”
Beck goes completely still. Alibi jumps at Beck’s pant legs.
I close my eyes. Goddammit.
“Roman put Bishop on speaker,” he repeats, so distracted he doesn’t even notice the dog.
“She has a right to know.” I hate how fucking defensive my tone is.
“I didn't say she didn't.”
“Then shut up.”
“I didn't say anything.”
“You keep fucking doing that.” I point at his face.
Callie pulls Alibi with us, then laughs as she unlocks the door.
Beck watches her walk inside, then he looks at me.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“Beckett.”
He holds up both hands. “Nothing.”
