I mutter some curses and pick up the bag. It's heavier than it has any right to be.

“Food?”

“Yes.”

“Treats?”

“Toys?”

“Blanket?”

I close my eyes. “Why does he need two blankets?”

“One is for sleeping. One is for the couch.”

“He slept under mine last night.”

“Aw. You’re thinking about the three of us sleeping together.”

“Your dog stole my blanket.”

I grab her suitcases and start toward the door leading into the house.

“Bring your laptop.”

“Running away from your feelings won't make them disappear, Hot Lips.”

I stop, then slowly turn around. “What did you call me?”

Her eyes sparkle. “Hot Lips.”

I point at her. “Don't.”

“Interesting reaction.”

“Touchy subject?”

She grabs her laptop bag. “I only know it involves a woman.”
