“You're here.” Two words, and somehow they hit harder than the coffee.
I look at her. “I'm here.”
Her eyes search mine. “You found me.”
My throat tightens. She doesn't know I could've gone anywhere this morning. Instead, I came here.
I hold her gaze. “Looks like it.”
A smile starts at the corner of her mouth, then grows.
Fuck. I missed that smile.
“Roman?” The brunette behind the counter waves her hand. I look over. She's holding a stack of napkins. Her face is bright red. “These might help.”
I walk over and take them.
She looks at Callie. Callie looks at her. Something passes between them.
I point at the brunette. “You.”
She freezes. “Me?”
“You know who I am.”
Her eyes dart toward Callie. “You said your name was Roman when you ordered.”
I shake my head. “No. You knew. Before that.”
She looks at Callie.
“Gracie,” Callie says.
Gracie.
Neither of them says a word.
I stare at both of them.
Callie presses her lips together. Gracie does the same.
“What exactly did she tell you about me?”
“Nothing,” Gracie says.
“Everything,” Callie says at the same time.
They look at each other.
“Callie!”
“What? He'll find out eventually.”
I rub a hand over my face.
I'm standing in a coffee shop covered in coffee and stolen water. My dick hurts. Half the room is staring at me. Gracie apparently knows enough about me to nearly lose a fight with her register. And Callie Quinn is approximately thirty seconds away from making this worse.
I should absolutely fucking leave.
