“And why would I do that?”
To blackmail me? Just like my friends thought he would. “Please,” I messaged.
“Your secrets are safe with me, Aphrodite.”
I didn’t believe him. Not for one second.
“But do me a favor?”
I pressed my lips together. “Is this an or else kind of favor?”
“You think I’m threatening you?”
Yes? God, how did I get into this mess?
“I’ll take it by your lack of response that you think I am. I’m not. I’m just asking for a favor.”
“Okay. What is it?”
“Go home.”
“Or...what?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“When you do become mine, I’ll remember you not listening to me.”
Well that wasn’t what I was expecting. “Are you threatening to spank me or something?” I laughed. “You don’t know me at all. Or else you’d know you’re threatening me with a good time.”
“Go home, Aphrodite.”
“I’d rather dance.” I pictured how he looked glaring down at his phone. Green eyes, dark hair, and a scowl.
“I’d rather you didn’t.”
“Why? Scared that I’ll dance the way I danced with you with someone else?” I wasn’t sure why I hadn’t been messaging this guy the whole time. This was actually really fun.
“We both know no one will feel as good behind you.”
“I beg to differ.”
“Then I dare you to try.”
I laughed. His threat had done a 180. But I never backed down from a dare. “Challenge accepted. Have a fun night wishing you were the guy I’m about to grind on.”
“Have fun wishing he was me.”
I rolled my eyes. I actually didn’t want to dance with someone else. I just wanted to dance with my friends. But it was a little hard when they all seemed busy.
So I texted Jacob, hoping he was still here somewhere. “Come dance with me so I don’t have to dance by myself.”
My phone buzzed, but it was another message from my mystery man instead of Jacob: “Find someone you can picture as me yet?”
I laughed. “Oh I found someone better.”
“I doubt it.”
“Well, you aren’t here so...”
“Then tell me where you are.”
