As soon as everyone’s bellies were full, Scarlett gestured to her phone and nodded toward the living room.
I sighed. I didn’t care about my mystery man. But if I could see his picture and then look Scarlett in the eye and tell her I wasn’t interested, maybe she’d drop it.
“You really don’t like the guy?” Jacob asked.
“You know me, Jacob. I’m only ever interested in one guy at a time.” I had total focus. And I was focused on Mr. Halifax. I had been for over two years.
“What about Eli?”
“What about him?”
Jacob stared at me. “I thought the two of you were dating.”
I laughed. “No. I mean, we’ve hung out a few times. But dating?” I shook my head. Eli was one of the guys we’d suspected was Scarlett’s kiss thief. We were wrong. But I think I’d always kind of lump him with all that. “I was just trying to make Mr. Halifax jealous.”
“Oh. I didn’t realize that.”
“Well, now you know. Should we go get a look at Shrek and get this over with?”
Jacob laughed. “From what I’ve heard, the guy is like super hot.”
I rolled my eyes.
“Come on. Let’s get this over with then.” He stood up and put his hand out for me.
I slapped my hand into his palm and he pulled me to my feet.
Scarlett immediately stood up too. Followed by Axel, Liam, and RJ. The six of us piled onto the couch in the living room and Scarlett pulled out her phone.
“I can’t wait for you to see him,” Scarlett said. “Your whole world is about to flip upside down, I swear.” She sounded so excited. “He’s so handsome, Soph. Like on a scale of one to ten he’s a fifteen.”
Axel groaned.
“Just admit it,” Scarlett said to him. “You saw the picture of him. He’s even hotter in good lighting.”
“He’s fine or whatever,” Axel said.
I was pretty sure that was the best we were going to get from him. “Should we turn the football game on?” I asked.
“Soph!”
“Scar.”
“How can you even think about watching football right now?”
“I could watch the game,” Jacob said. He grabbed the remote.
Scarlett slapped it out of his hand. “Aren’t you all dying to see Soph’s mystery man?”
RJ shrugged. “I’m just glad I don’t have to swipe right on a bunch of green-eyed half-naked men anymore. Let’s see him.”
“No one asked you to do that,” I said.
“Scarlett asked. You think I wanted this?”
I laughed at the expression on RJ’s face.
Liam reached around Scarlett to grab her phone. “Let’s see if he’s really a 15.”
