“Good. Wait. I have some appetizers I was making. I’ll be right back. Keep taking pictures.” She handed her phone to my dad.
My dad sniffed. “Sure thing, hot cheeks.”
I laughed. “Get one of me and Jacob real quick?” I said.
“Of course,” my dad said.
Jacob tucked me under his arm. “Us against the world, Soph,” he said and kissed the top of my head like my dad had just done.
I swallowed hard. Shit, he was going to be upset by my news too. But I didn’t have time to tell Jacob in advance, because Adonis strolled into the room.
“So this is the infamous Hunter residence?” he asked. “It’s nice to finally have an invite.”
I laughed. “Welcome,” I said.
“You look beautiful.” His eyes solely focused on me instead of looking around the room. He slid a corsage around my wrist. It was made of mostly green leaves that matched my dress perfectly. And yeah, I’d totally nailed the color of his eyes. He was so handsome it almost hurt to look at him.
He placed a soft kiss against my lips. “Goddess,” he whispered.
I felt my cheeks flush.
He slowly pulled back. “So where is your mom at? I’m excited to see her.”
“She’s excited to finally meet you too.”
He smiled. “I’m sure she will be.”
I laughed. “So cocky.”
He shrugged. “Always.” He turned to my dad. “What’s up, Rob?”
My dad walked over to us. “Good to see you again, Adonis.”
“You too. Yo! Uncle James! Aunt Penny!”
Aunt Penny looked very confused as Adonis hugged her.
Scarlett laughed.
RJ and Liam walked into the room. They’d been hanging out in RJ’s room.
Adonis did some kind of weird handshake with Liam and then did the same with RJ. “Little bro.”
RJ laughed and turned his attention to Scarlett. “Baby doll. Nice.”
Scarlett awkwardly put her hand in front of her chest.
“She has eyes, pervert,” Axel said and put his arm around her shoulders.
I smiled. I was really going to miss hanging out with our big group.
“Hey, kiddo,” Uncle Matt said and hugged me. “I like the laurel thing.”
I laughed. “Thanks, Uncle Matt.”
“Beefcake alert,” Justin said and fanned his face in front of Uncle Matt. “But while he’s distracted, I call dibs on my girl.” He wrapped his arms around Aunt Brooklyn from behind and kissed her cheek.
“Hey, Justin,” Aunt Brooklyn said with a laugh.
