I smiled. I knew it was an accent thing, but I found the pronunciation very cute. “Well, that sounds perfect.” What was the point of coming all the way here and not eating Caribbean food?
“Ahem.”
I jumped and turned around to see our butler, who was still standing there with our luggage.
“This way,” he said and started walking again.
I smiled and grabbed Adonis’ hand.
“I put a reservation for you at Spicy’s for half past.”
“Sounds perfect,” I said. Even though I had no idea what time it was.
“Question for you, my man,” Adonis said as we walked past a volleyball court.
I stared at the cabanas on the beach. I couldn’t wait to get my toes in the sand. Oh. And there was a pizza stand! This was going to be so much fun.
“Yes?” the butler asked.
“What is the weirdest thing a guest has asked you to do for them?”
The butler got a mischievous little smile on his face. “One time, one of the men asked me to tell him if his wife’s boob job looked authentic. And she flashed me.”
“Nice,” Adonis said.
I laughed. That was not at all what I was expecting him to say. What the hell?
The butler looked at Adonis expectantly as we stepped onto the elevator.
Adonis put his arm around my shoulders. “My girl’s are all real. Sorry, pal. I don’t need a second opinion.”
“Oh, very well. Let me know if you change your mind.”
Yeah, this guy reminded me a lot of Mr. Nigel.
As soon as we were in our room I walked over to the balcony to look down out at the beach. The sun was still setting. It reminded me of the view from our family beach house, only it was somehow even more magical. I couldn’t wait to go down there. I hoped Scarlett packed me some skimpy bikinis. Not that I owned any that weren’t.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” I asked.
Adonis’ deposited our luggage by the bed and then his arms wrapped around me from behind. He kissed the top of my shoulder. “Mhm.”
I turned my head and smiled. He wasn’t even looking at the view. He was just staring at me.
“This could be our life,” he whispered and kissed my shoulder again.
I pressed my lips together. I only had a couple of weeks left to decide if I was going to accept my spot at the University of New Castle or not. Tonight I’d planned on hanging out with our friends to try to convince Adonis of my vision. But Adonis had hijacked my plans. We hung out with my friends all the time though. I hadn’t been on vacation with Adonis before. His words spun around in my head as I stared at the beautiful blue ocean. And I had the oddest sense that I never wanted to leave.
I cleared my throat. “So this is what traveling the world looks like to you? Staying in 5-star resorts on the edge of the ocean?”
“No, normally I’d want to stay in town and explore.”
I smiled. That sounded fun too.
“But since we’re only here for two days and I mostly plan on keeping you in bed...” He lifted me up and I screamed as he carried me away from the balcony and tossed me on the bed.
I scrambled away from him, but he caught my ankle and pulled me to the edge of the bed.
“Are you running away from me, birthday girl?”
