“Gross,” RJ said. “But if this is like a date thing, can I bring Amber?”
“Who is Amber?” Scarlett asked.
“The girl I’m seeing.”
“Sure?” she said.
I thought Parker had shut that shit down...
“I’ll go let her know.” RJ got up and walked over to the table where most of the cheerleaders sat. He put his arms around some blonde from behind.
She turned her head and kissed him.
I guess blocking Parker had worked.
“Eh,” Liam said. “Do we have to bring a date? I don’t want anyone I’m seeing to think it’s serious.”
Scarlett threw a fry at his face.
Liam somehow managed to catch it in his mouth.
I laughed and turned to Adonis. “Really, what are we doing on Saturday?”
“It’s a surprise.”
I tried to hide my smile. Actually, like Liam, I never went out with anyone on Valentine’s Day for the same reason. I’d always loved Mr. Halifax, so I didn’t want to lead anyone on. But this Valentine’s Day was going to be very different.

I knew that Adonis’ father was home over the weekend. Maybe he was still in town. I looked around the bleachers for someone that looked like Adonis. But no one fit the bill.
I wondered if Adonis’ dad had been to any of his son’s games. It made me sad to think he hadn’t. He should have been here watching his son. Because Adonis was freaking amazing.
Every game I’d been to was fun. Well, except for last Friday’s. That one sucked. I could barely even look at the Triple Gs. It was too easy to picture Adonis’ hands on them.
But everything was different now that I was Adonis’ girlfriend. Every shot, every rebound, every dunk...it was like he did it for me.
Our relationship wasn’t about hidden glances, like mine had been with Mr. Halifax.
Adonis was over top with his affection. He wanted everyone to know I was his.
It had taken a few weeks, but Empire High finally had a winning record. Because of him. And tonight they were going to add another win for sure.
I watched Adonis wipe the sweat off his forehead with his shirt. I stared down at his Adonis belt. He was so perfectly named.
The final buzzer sounded. Instead of celebrating with his team, Adonis ran up the bleachers.
I scooted past a few people and threw my arms around Adonis’ neck when he reached me. I laughed. “You are so sweaty.”
“You know you love it.”
I squealed when he put his sweaty face in the crook of my neck and nipped at my skin.
And then I hit his shoulder when I saw my dad walking over. “Stop it,” I hissed.
“No, I like how your skin tastes. And I can’t wait to taste more of you.” His hands fisted in my skirt, pulling me hard against him.
My dad cleared his throat.
