“What proposal?” I asked. But I knew. He’d texted me that he thought he had an idea that might help. Right before asking if I trusted him.
“I know how to make you feel better.” He smiled.
“I’m sure you do. Does making me feel better involve driving me home?” Because the car was still in park.
He laughed. “That depends. Are you going to invite me up?”
“I’m calling a tow truck.” I pulled out my phone.
“Stop. I’m taking you home. And I’ll call a tow for you.”
I stared at him. “You really don’t have to. I know you have plans.”
“What plans?”
“I’m sure they involve someone whose name starts with a G.” I’d bet on Gigi. But it could be Gemma or George too.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“The Triple Gs on the cheerleading squad you were making eyes at. Gigi, Gemma, and George.”
“George?” he asked with a laugh instead of denying it.
“That’s what my friend calls her.”
“Scarlett?”
“No.” At least, not anymore.
“Jacob?”
I laughed. “No.”
“I can’t really picture any of your friends calling some random chick George.”
I liked that he’d referred to her as a random chick. “It’s a friend you don’t know. Her name is Parker. And she’s awesome.”
“Are you talking about Axel’s little sister?”
How did he know about Parker?! “How much have you stalked us exactly?”
“I heard RJ talking about her. Or rather, complaining about her. I asked for details.”
I stared at him. He was very nosey.
“Your family is all really close, huh? Calling each other’s parents aunt and uncle? Even ones you aren’t really related to?”
“Mhm.”
“So it’s you and RJ. Any other siblings?”
I was pretty sure he knew the answer to this question. But it was nice that he’d asked instead of just saying he’d looked it up online. “It’s just the two of us.”
“And your parents? Are they still together?”
Again, I knew he knew this. “Yes.”
“What are they like?” He leaned back in his seat like he was planning on sitting here chatting all evening.
