“Give me a minute.” Angel stood and walked to the computer in the corner of the lab.

Daisy bounced on the balls of her feet as she waited for the results. Despite what she said, she didn’t feel okay. Her thoughts were a mess, and she’d been jittery since sparring with Rexx. What the hell had she been thinking, kissing him? The problem was, she hadn’t been thinking. She’d just acted on her desire. Rexx’s hot, hard body had been underneath her, his long, solid cock pressed against her heat, and she’d lost her senses. She’d attacked him like a starving woman at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Her cheeks burned with humiliation. Daisy couldn’t stop thinking about the feel of him underneath her. How alive he made her feel and how desperately she wanted to do it again. But... but Rexx wasn’t for her. He was blunt, aggressive, and domineering. He annoyed her. He also made her want to get naked and take a long, cold shower to get these treacherous thoughts out of her head.

If she went there with Rexx, she’d screw up their partnership by screwing him, and she’d feel guilty for the rest of her life.

Things were good between them. They didn’t need the complication of sex ruining things. And it always did. If you got the feels for someone, it meant they could control you.

She shouldn’t look at Rexx as anything other than a colleague.

“Here we go. I’ve got most of the results back, but two tests are still running.” Angel looked up from the computer screen.

“Is that normal? Shouldn’t they all be done by now?”

“It’s normal when you’re as busy as I am and you want to make sure you get the results right.”

“Ah. Okay, I’m being an ass by hassling you.”

“Only a small one. And you do have a great ass, so I don’t mind.” Angel chuckled and winked at her.

“Is there anything I need to worry about?”

“You still have a slight temperature. And some of your markers show inflammation.”

“Inflammation?”

“It’s possibly stress related. Have you been feeling tense lately?”

“Just about every second of every day, but no more than usual. I mean, the missions can be stressful. Could that be the problem?”

“It could. And the human body doesn’t love being in space. You’re basically blobs of Jell-O held up by bones.”

“What can I do about that? I’m not quitting.”

“No, you stay right here. We just need to get your routine on point. And I recommend you do some stress relieving. Meditation, yoga, low intensity activity, stuff to take your mind off the pressures of the job and anything else that’s bothering you.”

“Uh, okay. I can sit crossed legged and chant if I have to.”

“Don’t be a wise ass. Meditation has scientific backing. It works.”

“Sure. I’ll give it a go. Whatever it takes.”

“Other than the pressures of the job, is there anything else bothering you?” Angel wasn’t only a doctor of medicine, she could see right through you when you were hiding something.

Daisy looked around the room. “Nope. So, basically, I just take it easy?”

“I tell everyone to do that, but no one listens. Don’t get so stressed. You think you can manage that?”

“Sure. But other than that, I’m fine?”

“You’re good to go. I won’t sign you off of active duty.”

“Great. Is there any chance I can have some anti-sickness meds?”

Angel tilted her head. “You’re still feeling queasy?”

“It’s no big deal. Just a few times in the morning. Sometimes at night. I figured it was some sort of bug.”
