What do we do now? Vixen asked. Because I can think of some things.

So could Madison. Especially because Sanchez’s dick under his pants was swollen in a probably involuntary but absolutely huge erection, and she didn’t really know what to do with that.

I know what to do with it, Vixen said.

We can’t just jump on him and hump him like a…

Like a bunny in heat. She didn’t even know if he wanted that. Or, she thought he did, judging by the other night at the bar, but then there was the whole wolf-out-of-control thing. Maybe he wasn’t ready.

Maybe she wasn’t ready. She had the feeling none of her not-very-extensive sexual experience had prepared her for a man like Sanchez.

Anyway, she was probably covered in dried mud, and her hair was tangled, and she looked like—well, like she’d been dragged backwards through bramble bushes.

Slowly, trying not to wake Sanchez, Madison crawled out from under the blanket and went into the bathroom, starting the shower running. As she stepped inside, she vaguely remembered Sanchez bathing her lapin, his hands gentle as he rubbed warm water over her fur.

Examining her wounds, she could see they’d already started to heal, even though it had only been a couple of hours. She traced one, remembering the feel of his hands on her. Heat raced through her, and she shivered.

Nothing was sexier than a strong, fierce man who could also be gentle.

You are so, so falling for him.

She was. But she was damned if she knew what to do next.

She stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself. As she was brushing out her wet hair, she heard a sound in the living room—a voice muttering.

Sanchez?

She went out to find him thrashing around on the couch, muttering in Spanish, obviously having a nightmare. It looked like a bad one.

“Sanchez?” She went over and touched his shoulder tentatively. “Gabriel? Wake up.”

Abruptly, his face rippled and started to elongate into a muzzle. Fur sprouted on his arms. He moved restlessly, growling.

Oh, crap. What if he sleep-Changed and couldn’t control himself? She shook his shoulder, hard.

“Sanchez! Wake up!”

He woke all at once, lunging at her with a feral snarl, his eyes flashing gold.

Madison backed away, almost falling over the coffee table. She kept going until she hit the wall. “Sanchez,” she said unsteadily, “it’s me. Madison. Everything is okay.”

He jerked his head back and forth, hyperalert but still looking lost in a nightmare, like he really didn’t understand where he was.

Her pulse was pounding and it was hard to breathe. She could see he was in fight or flight mode—only with Sanchez it was all fight. One wrong move, and he would attack her without realizing what he was doing.

He was still partially Changed—part man, part animal—snarling softly and constantly. It should be horrifying. And yet… there was something compelling about him.

“Gabriel? It’s Madison,” she repeated. “Everything’s okay. You’re okay.”

He turned towards her, sniffing the air.

“It’s okay. You can Change back now.”

He didn’t. Instead, he walked slowly towards her, a man with a half-wolf face. His eyes were fixed on her, like he was stalking his prey.

“You’re okay,” she told him, pressing against the wall as if she could escape through it, trying to keep her voice calm and soothing.

But he could probably smell her fear.
