“It’s probably nothing.”
“Like, Callie nothing? Or nothing nothing?”
“Will you leave it alone?”
Brandon said, “What did I just say about keeping important stuff from us?” He facepalmed. “Kitkat, please remind me why I ever agreed to deal with these people.”
Kitty contemplated. “I got nothin,’” she said finally. Despite the fact that she was still curled up next to Remy, patting his leg occasionally to keep his animals calm.
Kitty had always been there for them.
Colt said to Brandon, “If you think I’m going to report to you every time I get an email or a text from Callie, you’re high. Because no.” He glared at Remy. “You either.”
Remy said, “Just open it, dork-face, and see if she wants you to help her rebuild the bar. You really think I spent all that time helping you write that bid and make that video and being traumatized by my animals trying to rip my body apart, just to have you waste it?”
Kitty said, “He offered to help her rebuild the bar? Good move!”
Jason said, “She won’t take him up on it. Because he’s a dominant douchebag. And an idiot.”
Colt shot him the finger, got out his phone, opened his email app, and clicked on the message.
Kitty leaned across Remy and kicked Colt. “Read it out loud,” she demanded.
Oh, fuck. He was doomed. With a sigh, he started reading.
Dear Mr. McCall,
I have received your bid for the rebuild project on the Crows’ Nest. I found it most comprehensive and very attractive, so after due consideration I am putting Hot Leopard Construction at the top of my list of candidates.
Kitty busted out laughing. “Hot Leopard Construction? Dude!” Brandon facepalmed yet again. Despite the humiliation, Colt couldn’t stop a grin from edging onto his face. Callie liked it.
Remy nudged him. “See? I told you the video would put you over the top.”
“Shut up.” He elbowed his brother. “She didn’t even watch the video. I told her not to.”
“What video?” Kitty asked, fascinated.
“You are never, ever seeing it,” Colt informed her.
Kitty was already whispering loudly to Remy. “What do you want for it? Whiskey? Snack cakes? My first-born cub?”
Colt went on:
Your video presentation was very helpful in capturing your company’s level of professionalism. I think it’s clear what I can expect from Hot Leopard should I decide to work with you on this project.
Everybody busted out laughing at that. Kitty said, “Sweet! Now I can get a copy from Callie.” She grinned at Colt. “I can’t wait to see your ‘level of professionalism.’”
Well, shit, Colt thought. Callie watched the video and she was still interested. Maybe she was his perfect woman. Or the mating bond was way more magical than he’d ever thought. It would have to be, to keep Remy’s plumber’s crack from making her run for the hills.
Remy was looking ridiculously smug, so Colt elbowed him again before continuing.
However, there are some details to be clarified before making my final decision. Would it be possible for us to meet and discuss the fine points of our contract, and clarify how closely we will be working together on my project?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Callie Haugan
