She wanted to kill Robbie. Jesse had been kind to her, and his first thought after being poisoned was to save her son. And now he might die…
Jesse nodded. “Right. Because I was going to run a marathon…” His whole body began shaking from chills.
Mina put Brock in the tub next to him. “There you go,” she said to Brock, who also looked a little sick. “You’ll be safe there. I’ll be right here next to you.”
Rafe frowned. “Mina, can I see you outside?”
He hauled her into the hallway. “I’m sorry, but with Jesse down, we need you on defense, Mina,” he said. “There’s too many entrances and exits to this place.”
“Are you crazy?” she said. “I’m not leaving my son in there alone…”
Rafe’s eyes flashed golden. “My mate and my unborn son are out here,” he said. “Not to mention a whole crew who put their lives on the line for you. If these fuckers get past us because we’re short a gun, then all that will happen in that bathroom is your son watching you die. Is that what you want?”
Mina gazed into his eyes, and he gazed back unflinchingly. She hated this. She hated what her life and Brock’s life had become. She hated that she had to leave him.
But Rafe was right. She needed to fight, not hide.
She went back into the bathroom and kissed Brock. “Stay with Mr. Jesse,” she said to him. “Take care of him, okay?”
Brock nodded, his eyes wide and scared.
She was going to kill Robbie, and then she was going to kill every last one of those assholes outside.
