His head turned, and he bit into her inner thigh. She screamed, writhing, coming in front of everyone.
Draven growled under his breath, then pulled me closer.
Okay, I needed to find someone to talk to who wasn’t…busy and then get the hell out of here. I searched the room.
Whoa.
Lauren Beegan.
The last person I would have ever expected to see here. Coven Beegan was old and rich and acted like they were above everyone. Lauren had bullied Willow in middle school and was still a bully now. She was currently straddling a vampire, humping against him wildly, like she’d lost her damn mind, while he drank from her exposed breast, his fangs sunk deep into her flesh.
Lauren was absolutely the person I needed to talk to. She had a lot to lose if her coven—if any of the covens—found out she came here. Not to mention her fiancé. This most certainly wasn’t the image she’d spent her life cultivating. She was also friendly with Amy and the others.
“Can I go?” Ender said, looking antsy.
“Yes,” Draven said.
“We need to stay for a while. Is that all right?”
Ender shrugged. “If anyone asks, you don’t know me.”
He turned to walk away, and Draven stopped him. “If I see you again anywhere near my mate, I will kill you.”
Ender saluted my wolf and walked away.
My wolf.
Where had that come from? I’d thought it more than once, though, hadn’t I?
“So what’s the plan?” Draven asked.
I motioned to Lauren. “We need to wait for her to, ah…finish.”
“Jesus,” he muttered.
A few people glanced our way, and I realized how out of place we looked just standing there like voyeurs. More than one female was gazing longingly at Draven, and no, I wasn’t a wolf, but my hackles rose. I didn’t like it. Not one bit. Being mated was seriously messing with me because irrational jealousy fired through me hard and fast.
“Sit in that chair.” I pointed to the one near us.
He looked at it with a scowl, then back at me. “I’d rather not.”
“I don’t want to get kicked out of here before I talk to Lauren.” And for all we knew, Ender could be calling security to do just that despite what he said, we needed to try and blend in, but mostly, I wanted to show every female in this room that Draven was mine. That wasn’t me, I wasn’t that person, but there was no fighting the impulse.
Draven grumbled but did as I asked.
I climbed into his lap, and his hands went to my thighs and dug in instantly. I looked down at him. “Now we look like we belong here,” I said low because although there was music, vampires had excellent hearing, even better than wolves.
“You have it all figured out, don’t you, little witch?” His voice had grown deeper while he studied me too damn closely.
The way he said it, I wasn’t sure he considered that a good thing or not.
The room went dark.
Draven’s hold on me tightened to almost painful. The music stopped, everyone went quiet. I could hear movement but couldn’t see a thing.
“I don’t fucking like this,” Draven said against my ear.
He wasn’t the only one.
