A Vow of Ruin

“Below it. The Vault. It’s where people come to feed and be fed from,” Ender said.

The last place I wanted to go was back to that club. “Are you sure they’re witches?”

“Yes.” He grinned, flashing a whole lot of fang.

I pulled my phone from my pocket and opened Nightscape, pulling Amy Sartori’s page up. “Have you seen her?” I held up her picture.

He said nothing.

“What about her?” I said, doing the same with Marina’s page, then Imogen’s. “They’re missing, all of them witches, and I’m guessing, all visitors at your master’s blood bank.”

His mouth flattened. “No one at The Vault had anything to do with their disappearances. They left in one piece, all of them.”

I looked up at Draven, then back to Ender. “Take us there.”

“Iris,” Draven said, expression hard.

“Time’s running out. I can’t ignore this.”

Draven cursed and dragged the vampire over to my car. “Fine, but this fucker will be giving us a guided tour.”

We followed Ender through The Bank. It was full and loud.

I glanced up, but the big viewing window was dark. Nero, the ancient and terrifying vamp, wasn’t there watching over his domain tonight. Or at least I didn’t think he was.

We reached the back of the club, and Ender punched a code into a keypad by the door. It swung open and we took the stairs down to the basement and were greeted with another door, this one massive and made of steel.

A vault.

The Vault.

He swung the thick steel rods, and the clunk of the door unlocking filled the small space.

Draven looked down at me, brow raised and on full alert.

“I have no idea what’s behind that door,” I said, because I didn’t want my surly new mate to hold this against me later. I was far too tired to argue.

The door opened a crack, and music drifted out.

Draven curled his fingers around the back of my neck. “Stay close.”

“I plan on it.” I felt a hell of a lot safer next to a guy who could shift into an alpha wolf at any moment and easily tear someone apart.

We stepped through the door and into another club. It was a big space. The walls were red brick, and the furnishings were mainly dark wood. The color palette was rich and lush.

And holy shit.

I was not prepared for what was going on around me. I was no animal, but even I could smell the sex and blood. I looked up at Draven, and his eyes had changed, his entire body held ridged.

“What the fuck is this?” he growled.

“Like I said, this is where the local blood drinkers come to feed. This way no one dies, and the donors enjoy quality time with a vamp or…whatever,” Ender said.

Whatever? What else was there?

I turned and spotted several witches I knew doing things I’d never wanted to see them doing. I couldn’t believe it. They actually came here voluntarily.

“If you tell anyone about this place, or who you saw here, we will have to kill you,” Ender said. “Everyone who walks through that door signs a nondisclosure, which is why they feel comfortable doing…” He motioned to a couple sitting on a couch beside us. A female sat in a male’s lap, his arms were around her, hands on her breasts, and he was drinking from her neck. Another male was between her spread thighs.
