“Hey, Vy!” Archie’s amethyst eyes lit up the screen.

Then Aurora, Archie’s twin, bounced into view. “Vy Vy!”

My heart squeezed. Seeing them felt like home.

Aurora was wearing her hair in a braid, glasses perched on her nose, wrapped in a green sweatshirt and scarf. Archie? A thin tank top. Winter seemed irrelevant to the werebeast.

“Did you check the dates?” I asked them.

I’d already sent them possible summer flights to Europe. This year, I was absolutely visiting the Black Devil pack. And Logan was coming with me.

I hadn’t technically asked, but he was. I’d promised Lucien I’d helped them. And this was me helping.

“Dad agreed to work with Logan and Lucien…under certain conditions.” Archie pushed a hand through his thick dark hair. “But they’re all reasonable.”

“And your dates work! We’re both off from college.” Aurora beamed. “Is Lachy coming too? Please tell me he’s coming!”

While she continued, I mouthed a silent Sorry to Teresa. She smiled softly, showing me a book in her lap. With a thumbs-up, I turned back to the screen.

“You busy now?” Archie asked.

“I’m at a café with a friend.” I narrowed my eyes at Teresa’s book. “Frankenstein? Really?”

She blushed and shrugged.

Archie smiled. “One of my favorites. Your friend has taste.”

“Thank you,” Teresa mumbled, more to herself. Archie tilted his head. Even through the phone, Teresa sitting opposite me, and the background noise, his hearing had somehow caught that.

“I can’t wait to meet Rudolph!” Aurora chimed in, launching into questions about Logan, our visit, future camping trips, hiking routes, and every possible activity we could manage in the time we’d be there.

Archie sighed. “I can’t guarantee that I can take many days off.”

“Oh, don’t be such a party pooper!” She nudged his shoulder. “You’re always working.”

“I’m not like you,” he grumbled. “Always free to do what you want.”

“Excuse me! I cook. Sometimes…” she huffed. “Besides, I deserve a holiday more than you.”

She was finishing a PhD in biology. Archie was completing his master’s degree while training hard and performing his Alpha duties. Busy barely covered it.

He’d become Alpha once he found his mate, and his parents would step down. Their rules.

“Guys, I’ll call you back. I don’t want to ignore Teresa.”

“Teresa. Right, sure,” Archie said, black brows knitting together.

Neither Aurora nor I paid it much attention as we hurried through our goodbyes.

“Are you wearing my hoodie?” my favorite voice investigated through the phone. Judging by Logan’s smug grin, he already knew the answer.

“Maybe it’s my brother’s.”

“Nah, Freckles doesn’t own cool clothes.”

I rolled my eyes, burying my nose deeper into the hoodie. Yes, I had stolen it.

It’d been three days since I slept at his place, and I still hadn’t asked about who he shouldn’t call. Part of me wanted to, but the other part wanted to trust him enough to wait until he told me, even with the occasional image of some gorgeous ex-girlfriend popping into my head.
