So I came up with my own theory: Logan simply drove women crazy. Whether it was the testosterone levels of a male lycan, those cheekbones, or that voice capable of lowering IQs, I couldn’t say.

It just happened.

Without a word, Logan wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me clean off the floor in a hug. His amber scent surrounded me. By the time he finally set me down, I was still a little dazed.

“Look at the cute bunny I found wandering around.”

“Hello, Rudolph.”

“You look beautiful.” His lips pressed a soft kiss to my cheek.

“You too,” I said brilliantly.

“I thought we decided you’d wait downstairs so I could pick you up.” He cocked his head. I unintentionally mirrored him.

“I would have, but I met two of your fans. They showed me the way.”

We both looked at them.

Their eyes bounced between Logan and me, mouths hanging so wide I could easily see their tonsils from here.

“Thanks for bringing my mate up.” He didn’t spare them another glance.

I winked at them, proud of my control. See? Violence isn’t necessary, Rudolph.

“Jeez.” Logan hefted my bags onto one shoulder. “What do you have in here? Bricks?”

“My laptop. My night reading. A change of clothes.” And half my bathroom.

“Why? Where were you planning on sleeping?”

A blush spread over my cheeks and I averted my eyes.

“I’m just kidding!” He nudged my chin up and I gave him a dirty look.

In retaliation, Logan stole a quick kiss. Too quick. I needed more—so much more.

“Ready to fraternize with the enemy? Don’t worry, we’re nicer than your pack.”

I nodded with a grin. His large hand landed on the small of my back and guided me through the crowd.

“Want a drink? Warm milk?”

“Warm milk?!” I scoffed. His laugh rumbled through his chest. “Is that your opinion of me, Logan?”

“Weeeell.” His eyes danced. “Last time you got drunk, I heard you were kissing hot strangers at parties.”

A wistful smile tugged at my lips. “Only one.” I slipped my arms around his waist. “And he was so shy he didn’t say a word.”

“Was he?” Logan’s eyes shuttered, his hands settling on my hips. The room disappeared…and then I noticed it.

The music kept playing, but conversations had died, dozens of eyes fixed on us. I shifted my weight from foot to foot.

“Want a picture?” Logan snapped and conversations resumed, like he had pressed play again.

As we passed through the living room, nobody held my gaze; werewolves looked away quickly, some smiling, others…nervous.

In the kitchen, I spotted a familiar head bent inside the fridge.
