Far too polite.
“Told you.” Logan broke out into a smug grin. Only when he poked my cheek did I realize I was pouting. “Oh, come on.” He pulled me into his side. “You’re not upset, are you?”
“Upset about what?” Lachlan plucked my backpack from Logan’s shoulder and slung it over his own. Bellatrix suddenly found her rainbow-painted nails fascinating.
“Nothing.”
“Something extraordinary.”
Logan and I answered the question in unison. I glared at him, and he kissed my cheek.
“Whatever. Let’s go, sis.” Lachlan looked like he wanted to be literally anywhere else. “Masturbator. Bellatrix.” His eyes lingered on Trix, his jaw tightening. Bellatrix blushed.
I blinked.
“Hold the fuck on.” Logan had noticed too. “How do you two know each other?”
Bellatrix huffed. “Drop it. It was just a hookup.”
I already adored her, but she had a life-threatening lack of filters, just as her brother had no control over himself.
“What the actual fuck?” Logan exploded. Half the terminal turned to stare. “A hookup? With my sister?”
Lachlan ran a hand through his red, tousled hair. “She has an identity outside of being your sister.”
“We were drunk. And I wanted to. Not him.” Once again, Trix’s words only added more fuel to an already raging fire.
“You didn’t want my sister?”
This was absurd. “Logan…”
“That was obviously to get back at me!”
Bellatrix threw her hands up. “Couldn’t a guy or girl like me for me?”
“You’re my sister! A target!”
“Give me a break, Masturbator.” Lachlan looked bored. “I haven’t mentioned it to anyone, have I? Would you have kept quiet if you’d fucked my sister? Like you threatened to?”
The tension rose. My arms slithered around Logan’s waist. He took a step forward, carrying me along.
His fist closed around Lachlan’s hoodie and he shoved him against a wall. “What did you just say?”
Lachlan bared his fangs. “Only the truth.”
“Enough.” I squeezed between the two growling mountains. “Lachy, wait for me outside.”
He nodded once.
“Logan, please.” My palms flattened over his Tennent’s Lager T-shirt.
He glanced down at me, and something softened. With one final shove, he released Lachlan, who shouldered him hard before walking away without another glance.
Logan cursed, looking at Bella, who was still watching Lachlan leave. “Can’t believe those freckled hands were all over my sister! Yuck.”
I slipped my hand in his, smiling. “You’re cute when you’re overprotective.”
Sometimes I was a fire extinguisher, while Logan and Lachlan alternated between match and gasoline.
