“Professional pillow?”
“Nah.”
“Well, guess what, Rudolph?” I raised my brows at her tone. “You don’t get to decide what I call you!”
I was about to tell her exactly what I thought of that, my comeback already loaded, when my little bunny yawned again. The way she curled herself around me told me everything—she needed a nap.
A grin tugged at my lips as I stroked her shoulder. Maybe I should stop calling her Bunny Doc.
Bear Doc suited her better. Or Teddy Doc.
I glanced down.
The little bear was already fast asleep.
“Dad, we’re going to be late for dinner,” I said through our mind-link. Absent-mindedly, I dropped a kiss on Yvaine’s forehead.
His response was immediate. “Why? Got lost in our woods?”
I snorted. “Sure.”
“Lolo!” Bellatrix cut in. “I came home early to spend time with Yvaine!”
“We can be at the packhouse in half an hour.”
“No! If you say thirty minutes it means two hours!”
Fair.
“That’s too bad, big sis.”
“Argh! You are so—”
“Bellatrix, leave them alone.”
I smirked…until Dad’s next words. “Yvaine will have to come with me to the library first.”
“What?!” both Bella and I blurted.
“Why, Dad?” I continued.
“It’s something between her and me. Nothing that concerns you pups.”
I didn’t like being left out; I needed to know. I glanced down at my sleeping mate, all adorable draped over me.
“Why the library? So you can show her your big feet?” I teased.
He ignored the nickname like he always did. “If you really must know—”
“Yes, I do.”
“I want to show Yvaine an ancient volume on neurosurgery.”
I heard the subtle excitement in his voice. Oh God… I already knew how my night was going to go: Yvaine and Big Feet blubbering about medicine for hours; me sitting there, not understanding a single thing; and Bellatrix chatting up Yvaine.
Before I had met my mate, Saturday nights meant friends, barbecues, parties, and girls. Now? Ancient textbooks and chitchats.
I looked down at the warm little bundle sleeping on my chest.
