She rolled her eyes and then smiled. “I don’t mind. I love that you guys are becoming friends.”
“He’s the coolest kid I’ve ever met.”
“That’s sweet.”
“It’s true. I could hang with him all day. My stomach hurts from laughing with him.”
She placed a soft kiss on his chin. “That means so much to me.”
He bent and took her lips.
“When are you going to marry me?”
She jerked. “What?”
“I want to be your man and a friend or father to Jayden. I want you guys to be a part of my family. I can’t go a whole day without seeing you anymore. It physically hurts.”
“We’ve only been together for a little over five months. I thought we were going to wait a few more months?”
“And I knew in the first minute that I wanted you to be mine, and every day that passes tells me that I was right. You’re the one for me.”
She stared at him with wide eyes. “Wow.”
“Do you love me?”
She nodded. “Yes, I do. Very much.”
“I love you more than anything. Marry me. It doesn’t have to be today or tomorrow, but I want it within the next month.”
“Are we really going to fly to Vegas?”
“Yes. Do you think Jayden still would go with us and be my best man? We can get a suite with two rooms, so we have privacy.”
“I think Jayden would love that. He’s talked about it a few times.”
“Let’s talk to him tomorrow.”
Beth pressed her lips against his. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Being awesome.”
“Oh, well, then you’re welcome,” he murmured and then grinned.
Beth snorted.
“I better get home,” he said and lifted her off his lap before he stood. He grabbed her hand and pulled her after him to the door. He always dreaded this time of night, when he had to go home to an empty bed.
He pulled her into his arms and bent down and kissed her.
“Just think, if we were married, I wouldn’t be leaving right now.”
She nodded. “I know. I don’t like it when you leave.”
“The sooner, the better, sweetheart.”
“Do you want to be here when I discuss it with him?”
