“We’ll see in August,” is what I say.
“I hope you enjoy every minute of tour.”
“I’m going to try.” I chuckle at what feels like a throwaway comment.
Taking my hands in hers, she squeezes them. “Just remember how lucky you are. It’s an amazing opportunity not everyone gets.”
That reminds me of Khaos’s observation about me being ungrateful, and I make myself a promise to savor the entire summer and live it to the fullest, not just the parties, but everything.
“So what will you be doing instead? Any big plans for the summer?”
Ever Munreaux’s wealthier than most of the students here, which is saying something because almost everybody at Littoral comes from prominent families.
After another failed attempt at a grin, she replies, “Enough to make me sick.”
“You sure you don’t need any help, Killa’ K?”
I shoot Dex next to me a sneer, making him laugh. My pace is a bit slower than usual but I don’t need fucking help walking. Asshole.
“I love summers in Sea Haven,” Dex says as a girl in a thong bathing suit runs past us on our way up the driveway.
“It’s not even summer.” It’s the middle of May.
While he turns to admire her ass, I continue on toward the front door.
“Summer break,” he tells me when he catches up. “Today was Littoral’s last day.”
We stop just past the threshold to take in the scene. The foyer is packed, both staircases are crowded, and from the looks of it, there are just as many, if not more, people deeper into the house.
“What the fuck?” This is too fucking much.
“Man, I wish my sisters were half as social as yours. We could have ragers like this, too.”
“She’s not my sister,” I mutter as I turn for the staircase to the left. And she’s not all that social. At least not during these parties.
“You’re not gonna partake?”
“Not until I shower.”
“I gotchu.”
Judging by my friend’s voice, something else, or more accurately someone else, has already snagged his interest.
There are people upstairs, too, but no sign of Kota anywhere. That’s not exactly surprising. She’s probably attached to Guy somewhere downstairs, her phone up to her face. That’s all she ever does at these things—stare at her phone. She never drinks, never swims, she barely even talks to anyone. I don’t know why she even bothers inviting this many people over if she ignores them all anyway.
Both our doors are still closed, but I do have to kick a couple out of my bathroom. Fuckers. Literally.
Taking my time in the shower, I stand directly under the spray with my head dropped, letting the hot water soothe my sore muscles. I run my hand over the growing bruise on my rib and wince. So much for showing up to Kota’s party shirtless. She would probably have a shit fit if she saw it.
The thought makes me grin.
We haven’t talked since the banana bread, which was last weekend, so I’m due for some kind of interaction with the girl.
My cock begins to grow.
Overdue, apparently.
Too tired to do anything about that, I kill the water and dry off.
