“I should go and sort them out.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Jace. Sit down,” Lorelei says. She moves to the free seat opposite Clint and sits down. “Right, let’s talk. Kia, you joined my event. We have rules.”
“Who is Kia?” Clint asks, outraged.
I laugh at Clint. He’s adorable. “Rules are made to be broken.”
“Not these rules.”
“Well, you know. You hurt my friend. I’m not going to sit back and let that happen,” I say confidently and with no remorse, drumming my fingers on the table, showing this omega queen my irritation.
She might rule here, but I was born to rule empires.
Lorelei and I lock gazes and glare. It’s like a meeting of titans, but I’m not worried. I was made in a different mold.
“We didn’t know.”
I make a sound in my throat that says I don’t believe her.
“I would never do that to anyone. Not on purpose. No matter how frustrated I might be with them.”
“But you did,” I say pointedly. “You put him in a position of humiliation, shame, and hurt. Was it not bad enough Asher ran wild with that commentary about how evil he was?”
Lorelei sits back in her chair; she looks older all of a sudden. “What do you want?”
I lean forward, smiling. “Three more dates with this pack.”
Lorelei raises her eyebrows and studies me. “Why?”
“Because I like them, and I want to spend time with them before I leave.”
Lorelei frowns. “Where is home?”
I smile widely. “A city.”
“Which one?”
I laugh. “What’s with the twenty questions? We have a pack that is working and that isn’t ending up with two people upset and running off. Why aren’t you celebrating?”
“Because…” She pauses and looks at Felix. “What do you want, Felix? It’s up to you. If you want her gone, I will remove her, and nothing and no one will stop me.”
“You can do that, but if you remove her, I’m not going ahead with this fiasco,” Zaire snaps.
Clint leans back. “Which means just me, Jace, and Felix, and we all can’t get along. It will be a hot mess.”
Lorelei glares at Clint. “We are going to talk about that crap you pulled today at Angler’s Beach. I had no less than twenty calls, and the only reason you aren’t arrested is because Asher was there.”
He just smiles. “Had to go rescue my boo.”
“Mum. I want this pack.”
Felix’s words steal the air from the room. Zaire whips his head towards him, Clint’s hand tightens on his glass until his knuckles are white, and Jace holds his breath.
She goes completely and utterly still. “This one? I mean…are you sure? Because, like…” Lorelei looks at us, and I can see the confusion in her face. Like she can’t understand what he’s even saying. “I can find you alphas more suited to you. You don’t have to share with another omega.”
I slam my glass down. “He’s not sharing with me, he’s mine. Felix is going to be mine for the next month. Three more dates and everything in between.”
Lorelei glares at me. “You lied to us.”
