Spectre, after checking Zaire is okay, races off, playing and bouncing with Harvest, of all people.

I want to hate him so hard right now.

Everything is starting to make sense, but that’s because there is an underlying scent in the air, something that has been here for so long that it’s seeping into the walls, the concrete, the very steel itself.

Khione.

But I can’t see her anywhere. So, where is she?

I refocus on the men around me and notice one who is standing slightly off to the side, watching us intently. He’s the one Teddy was talking to. Beside him is a man who has blond hair, blue eyes, but looks just as mean and cold. He leans in and whispers to the dark-haired alpha, then disappears through a door.

“Where is she?” I say, my voice silencing everyone.

His eyes glint with amusement. “She got herself an omega? Ah, she doesn’t do things by halves.” He looks around. “Which one of you is the cop?”

“I am,” Jace says confidently and pulls Clint to his side.

I walk closer to the men, watching the intent way they are watching me.

Something is wrong, I can feel it.

“Spectre?” I say clearly. “Find Khione.”

The dog takes off, ripping free of the burly alpha trying to hold him. He barks and charges at a door, which opens. A biker squeals and jumps out of the way, and Spectre vanishes into the warehouse.

“Who are you?” The alpha asks, and the rest of them get quiet.

“Felix Sol,” I say with all the arrogance that the name carries. “Where is my omega?”

“My daughter.”

Oh.

I don’t care.

“She’s in her heat. Where is she?” I snarl. “I can smell it.”

“Is that all that matters to you?”

“That she’s in pain, that she’s suffering? Of course. If I can take her pain, carry it for her, I will. You will not stop me from helping my soulmate.”

His smile spreads, and I can see Khione in this man.

“Okay. I like you all. All except the cop. We don’t like cops.”

“She does,” Jace says.

The bikers laugh.

“All right. Okay. I like you, but we want to get to know you a bit before you go up there.”

“She’s in her heat-”

“She is asleep; sleeping tablets. She will wake up in about four hours. Come on. Have something to eat, have a drink, go and shower. Then you can go up. Everyone but a skeleton crew will be leaving.”

I turn and notice all the bags and boxes. “What is that?”

“That?” The biker comes to stand beside me. “My name is Elliot, but everyone calls me Crash, and that is me giving my daughter to the pack who will make her happy.”
