The woman chuckled. “No,” she said. “I received the name from her when she passed away. The name is inherited and passed down through the generations,” the woman said.

Moon stared at the intercom. “So you’re the current Blood Seer.”

“Yes.” Mayhem looked at Moon, and her wolf surged in fear and something else.

“What do you want from Moon?” he demanded. Morrigan didn’t answer, and Mayhem stepped toward the intercom. “What do you want with my mate?” Moon turned and looked him over as though he had lost his mind, but he didn’t care—not now.

The silence outside stretched. Then Morrigan said, “There it is.”

Mayhem frowned. “There what is?”

“The bond,” she said.

Moon went rigid, and Mayhem’s wolf growled. “You can feel it?” Moon asked.

“Yes,” the woman said.

“How?” Mayhem asked.

“Because I helped create what lives inside him,” she admitted. Mayhem’s entire body went cold.

Chris whispered, “Well, shit.”

Howler stepped closer. “You ordered the attack?” he asked. His Prez looked about ready to murder the woman.

“No,” the woman said.

“Liar,” Howler spat.

“I ordered them to retrieve Moonlight,” Morrigan said. Mayhem’s claws threatened to emerge as she continued. “The Hollow wolves became impatient. They believed infecting her mate would force her hand.”

Moon’s voice shook. “My mate.”

“Yes,” the woman said.

“You knew?” Moon asked.

“We knew before either of you did,” the woman admitted.

Mayhem wanted outside more than he had ever wanted anything. “How?” he growled.

Morrigan sighed. “Silver Bloods recognize bonds differently. Moonlight’s awakening began the first time she met you.” Moon looked at Mayhem. He remembered that night. He’d met her at a strategy meeting months ago. Moon was standing across the clubhouse table from him, with her silver-streaked hair and winter eyes. She was quiet and so fucking beautiful. His wolf had paced all damn night afterward. He’d blamed it on simple attraction, but apparently, his wolf had known better.

Moon pressed the button. “What do you mean, awakening?”

“Your visions,” the woman said. Her face changed. “They’re because of him.”

“No,” Moon breathed.

“The bond strengthens what you already carry,” Morrigan said.

Moon’s fingers trembled, and Mayhem covered her hand with his. “Don’t listen to her like every word is gospel.”

Morrigan heard him. “You’re very protective of her, aren’t you?” she asked.

“Fuck off,” Mayhem shouted. Chrome snorted, and Chris covered her mouth.

Moon elbowed Mayhem. “What?” he asked.
