He frowned. “That’s why it bothers me he filed for sole custody. I’m with you in that fight, okay?”

I nodded into his chest. “You said that already. I know.”

He tilted my head up toward him and kissed me. I melted into him, letting myself give in to the feelings I had shoved down the past couple of weeks. This man had bared his soul to me, and when he got angry about what Seth was doing, it made me love him even more.

He pressed his forehead against mine when he broke off the kiss. “I love you.”

“Love you more.”

“More than Dragonspire?” he teased.

“More than all the video games in all the realms.”

He grinned, and I loved how his eyes sparkled when he smiled at me. “We’ll figure out all this stuff together, okay?”

I nodded. “I’m glad you’re in my corner. I didn’t want to bother you about what was going on.”

He kissed my forehead. “Please bother me about it. I’m so pissed about that dickweed. I really want to give him a piece of my mind.”

“Down boy,” I teased. But I loved it. Loved how he was protective of me and wanted to be my rock. “I don’t want to keep him from Rosie. She’s his daughter.”

“I know, princess, but he doesn’t deserve sole custody if he’s been in and out of her life. We’ll figure out what works for her. But he’s not getting sole custody. Not on my watch.”

If I wasn’t already lying down, I would have melted into a puddle. Logan Cullen was so sweet, and he was mine. My perfect gamer boyfriend.

I lay back down on his chest, basking in him being in my bed. We never got quiet moments like this, and I wanted to savor them.

My phone vibrated against my bedside table, and I reached out to grab it. I tilted my head when I saw an unknown number pop up with a text message.

UNKNOWN: I heard Seth filed for custody. I want to help you. We both know he’s a liar.

I frowned at the message. Who was this? I saw the dot bubbles pop up, and then another text appeared on my screen.

UNKNOWN: Sorry, it’s Katie! Let me know if you need a witness. Fuck that guy!

My mouth hung open. I had one conversation with Seth’s girlfriend, Katie. I gave her my card, but I never expected her to reach out to me. I didn’t even realize they had broken up.

“What’s wrong?” Logan asked.

“Seth’s ex texted me.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Are you friends?”

I shook my head. “We caught him in a lie, and he was cheating on her by telling her he had to take care of Rosie while he was telling me he couldn’t take her because he had a ‘work trip.’ I gave her my card if she ever wanted to talk.”

He slipped his hand down and grabbed mine in his own. He rubbed his fingers across mine. “That’s why you’re so sweet, princess. You always think of others.”

“I felt bad for her. But this is the first time she’s ever contacted me.”

“That’s good, right?”

I nodded. “Yeah, just…odd. She wants to be a witness if I need it. I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that.”

“How so?”

“We had a plan in place; it wasn’t working, but that was because of Seth. Maybe we don’t have to go to court if we can work it out before then,” I explained.

My lawyer had been over this with me again and again as we tried to nail down a date for mediation. If we could resolve the issues, then we didn’t have to wait for a hearing date. The courts got tied up easily, and this could be a long process. But Seth was being an asshole, so I had a feeling I’d be seeing him in court.
