He grinned. “So much so.”

My heart felt so full as I took the flowers he brought me inside and found a vase for them in the kitchen. He followed behind me, and I smiled as his hands slid around my waist, and he kissed my neck. I moaned at his touch, having missed it while he was gone.

“Mmm. I missed you, warrior. So much,” I moaned.

He drug his lips across my skin, his hand sliding up my shirt. “Me too, little wood elf princess.”

I turned in his arms. “I’m sorry.”

“S’okay, princess. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.”

I frowned. “I’ve been trying to keep you at bay because my feelings are so strong. I didn’t want to be clingy.”

He laughed. “I thought I was getting clingy.”

I held up my forefinger and thumb together. “Little bit, but I liked it. Everything’s happening so fast, but at the same time not. Do you know what I mean?”

He nodded. “Yes. When we met, it was an instant connection, and that first time we kissed, I was a goner. I didn’t know you were my best friend already.”

“Really?” I asked, my voice hitching up. I always felt that way too, but it was weird to admit that the only constant in my life was a stranger I’d only known on the other side of a headset.

He nodded. “Might not have known your real name or what you looked liked, but everything clicked once I figured out you were Flower.”

As soon as I knew he was Ginger, all the pieces fell together. It wasn’t just because we lamented the trials and tribulations of being busy single parents. It had been something so much more.

I cupped his bearded face and looked into his eyes. His blue eyes stared back at me, pouring out all the love he had for me. “Things won’t be easy with the kids, but I want to be your girlfriend. I want to be cheering you on behind the glass with the kids in my lap. I want to read them bedtime stories and help you manage a meltdown at dinner time. To be the person on the other side when two little babies get needy and have to be in our bed.”

He grinned. “They’re quite needy.”

I laughed. “We probably need to cut out the co-sleeping.”

“Probably.”

“I want a partner. Someone who can be with me through the good and bad. I made so many mistakes when I got with Seth.”

“I’m here, okay? I might not physically be here because of my job, but I’m always going to be by your side. I’m willing to make the time. For you.”

I smiled at him. “I’ll make the time too.”

He tipped my head up and kissed me again, sliding his tongue against the seam of my lips, and I opened to him, letting him take my mouth. His hands slid down my sides as we deepened the kiss, and then he hiked me up into his arms. We kissed deeper as I wrapped my arms and legs around him, clinging to his strong body.

He dragged his lips down my jaw. “I missed you so much.”

“Mmm. Come on, my warrior, show me upstairs exactly how.”

“Is that a demand?” he whispered.

“I want you to take me like the animal you are.”

His lips curled up into a wolfish grin. “Oh, I will, princess.”

And then he carried me up to my bedroom and made good on his promise.

I lay against Logan’s chest, tracing my hand against the black and grey rose tattoo on his arm. “She would have been so happy that Liam’s in your care.”

He kissed my temple. “I hope so.”

I looked up at him. “She would. You take such good care of him. It’s one of the things I love about you. Liam and Rosie aren’t yours, but you don’t treat them like they aren’t. You’ve been a better dad to my daughter than her real one.”
