After his visit to her bedroom, all Susie wanted was to wipe the whole thing from her mind. And yet, here he was, about to entrench her deeper in humiliation.
Just leave me alone.
“Susie,” Arken said, speaking her name loudly enough that everyone could hear, even though she knew he was only speaking to her.
And he’d called her ‘Susie’.
Her skin prickled. “You’re supposed to call me ‘pet’,” she whispered, unsure of why she was helping him. She loathed that word.
A small crease formed on his brow, his lips parting slightly as his expression grew calculating.
“Whenever you’re ready, Headmaster,” Zott said cheerfully, cracking his fingers before one of his hands disappeared beneath the desk. “Please proceed with the demonstration—I recommend having Susanna perform a blowjob. It’s good for the female wolves to see that first hand. And Susanna is particularly proficient at them.”
A moment of silence.
“Is she?” Arken asked quietly.
A part of Susie died, her throat closing over as Zott’s instructions pierced her brain.
She stared up at Arken pleadingly, hoping he would put a stop to the session. But Arken didn’t say anything, and the longer the silence stretched, the more she realised that he was waiting for her.
“Ah,” Zott grinned. “A silent command. This is an advanced skill, when a Master expects the pet to anticipate his or her needs. Although, as Susanna is merely a second-year student, I am unsure if she will know what to do—”
“I know what to do,” she said tersely, not caring that she spoke out of turn as her eyes narrowed up at Arken, fresh hot anger unfurling inside her.
You could put a stop to this, she silently accused him, trying to convey all her thoughts with her eyes. But you won’t, will you?
Arken flinched almost imperceptibly.
Had he sensed her anger?
She doubted it would have made a difference if he had. Arken was too set in his ways, just like the rest of his administration.
With Arken standing before her, gazing down at her with what looked like pity, the quiet rage that had been bubbling beneath the surface now surged upward, and it was all she could do not to spring to her feet and urge them all to see that this was wrong. That the example she was setting was not a good one. That everything about Zott’s classes were immoral, sick, and twisted. And in her mind, she would have the eloquence and charisma to explain that there was a better way, a peaceful way to coexist.
Her muscles tensed, ready to leap up.
Things could change for the better.
But then she had caught sight of the male wolf with the bloodied nose. The injury seemed to have settled, because he was no longer holding his nose, but the crooked angle indicated that it was probably broken.
Her anger collapsed like a tent into a useless heap.
No, today was not the day for change. Today was a wretched day, one that she had to endure. The only thing she could control was how the rest of Zott’s demonstration would play out.
Arken’s demonstration, she corrected herself. He’s in charge now.
And he still hasn’t said a word.
She took a steadying breath.
Fine.
Swallowing her pride, she reached for his belt, her hands shaking with humiliation as she wrenched his fastenings free with more force than was necessary.
“Susie, wait,” Arken said firmly.
It’s Susanna.
