Having Arken here to witness her subjugation was another layer of humiliation.

Except he wasn’t just witnessing it—if he agreed to Zott’s request, he would actively be directing her.

She groaned internally.

Meanwhile, Arken still hadn’t said anything, his expression calculating as he stared at her in the mirror.

It made her want to curl up into a ball and die, to disappear, to be just about anywhere else.

“I do not employ you to ‘break’ my students, Professor Zott,” Arken said sternly, his tone causing the whole class to shift restlessly. His gaze met Susie’s again. “And Susanna does not look broken.”

Zott gave a nervous titter. “Oh no, of course not, sir. Pardon the turn of phrase. I only meant—”

“I’ll stand in for the demonstration,” Arken interrupted. He tilted his head at Susie questioningly. “If that is acceptable to Susanna?”

She swallowed.

“Sir,” Zott implored, “Forgive me, I must object. You see, it is not up to her—”

“Susanna?” Arken prompted, speaking calmly as if Zott wasn’t there. “What do you say?”

Well, I can hardly say ‘no’.

“Yes, sir.”

Arken seemed to be waiting for her to say something more, but Zott gave a delighted clap and began addressing the class, although Susie barely heard him over the buzzing in her ears.

“You are in for a treat, class. Watch and learn, because soon, you will be giving orders to pets of your own. You will have three months to produce a perfect, well-behaved wolf like Susanna here. Although, no one is quite like my Susanna.”

Revulsion tightened her throat.

She felt a touch on her shoulder, and looked up, craning her neck until she was staring directly up at Arken.

Arken was not looking at her. He was staring at Professor Zott, and his voice was deceptively soft and laced with danger as he spoke. “May I correct you, professor, since it will be my demonstration…but I believe she is my Susanna.” 🔥

Zott froze at his words, before breaking into an apology.

Susie didn’t hear him. She was too busy staring up at Arken, his unearthly calmness soothing her nerves like a balm. The sparks of resentment she may have felt were weak compared to the solidity of his presence.

She wasn’t even sure she liked him, but right now, he was the rock she could cling to in a stormy sea… She hadn’t even realised she was drowning until he’d saved her from Zott’s perverted plans.

But then the moment passed, and Zott was eagerly urging Arken to stand before Susie so the whole class could see. Revulsion crept back in, and the resilience she’d carefully constructed wavered.

Arken did not immediately move. He remained standing behind her, and his foreboding presence made her skin prickle with unease. A tense silence filled the room, and its source was no longer Zott, who had waddled back to sit at his desk.

It was Arken.

Susie swallowed nervously, the anticipation mounting as everyone waited for the headmaster to make a move.

Annoyance flared as she once again wondered if Arken had known she would be here. Surely, it was too much of a coincidence that he just happened to visit Zott’s class on the same day she was summoned to lead a demonstration.

As the seconds passed, her palms grew sweaty against the bare skin of her upper thighs between her socks and the hem of her pleated skirt.

Suddenly, Arken moved, circling her with slow, measured steps that resounded in her ears.

Her whole body felt clammy, her heart raced as she gazed up at Arken, his deep brown eyes agleam with bright caramel flecks.

What game was he playing?
