All I could do was shake my head. When it came to Onyx, he was set in his ways. Everything my grandfather instilled in him, he kept. He carried it like it was his most prized possession. I believed he preferred JMG over being a father at times. It was sad, but I thanked God that He gave me a mind of my own.

“You know, we’ll agree to disagree. I don’t have time to stand here and go back and forth with you, Onyx. I’m ’bout to go home to my family, not a lonely, empty ass house.” I patted his shoulder and walked off. I stopped right before I got to my truck and turned back around. “Tell me something.”

“I thought you weren’t ’bout to go back and forth with me.”

“I’m not. I just wonder what you think when you get home, and you’re by yourself. No one to tell ’bout yo’ day or anything. Just you and yo’ thoughts. I know that shit must drive you crazy, knowing you’ve poured yo’ life into JMG and don’t have anything outside of that to show for it. I’ve had to live in that misery for five years. Now, my love is back home and willing to give me another chance. Do you think I’d want to keep living like I was? You shouldn’t either.”

With that, I gave him a nod and hopped in my truck.

Moya had texted me earlier, letting me know she had a surprise for me. I wasn’t quite sure what it was, but I was beyond excited to get home and find out. If Onyx thought I was going to dive headfirst back into JMG to stroke my ego, he was dead wrong.

The only person I wanted to dive headfirst back into was Moya.

“Love? Where you at?” I called out to Moya as I entered my house. I kicked my shoes off at the door and went to search for her. The house was too quiet, so I figured Ocean was gone. His ass stayed on the go, but I didn’t mind since we had someone watching all our family members.

Just as I was about to call Moya’s name, she came around the corner with the biggest, sneakiest smirk curving the corners of her lips. She skipped over to me and planted a juicy kiss on my lips, taking my hands in hers. I looked her up and down. The outfit she wore was familiar, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. One thing I did know was it looked damn good on her.

“Why do I recognize this outfit?” I quizzed, letting go of one hand and spinning her around to get a better look. The shorts were short as fuck, stopping right underneath her ass. She giggled when I slapped her right cheek and watched it jiggle.

“Stop, Shea. That hurt.”

“Nah, you know you liked it. Don’t think I forgot that you like to be spanked, Love. I’ll take my belt off right now and give you the business.”

The sexual tension between Moya and I reached new heights every day. Seeing her walk around the house in her too little clothes or in anything did something to me. The kisses we shared and flirting didn’t make it any better. I’d been keeping my hands to myself, but it was getting harder to do so. I could’ve easily hit up Jess to get me off. That would’ve been disrespectful to Moya, especially when we’d agreed to see where things were going between us.

“If you don’t stop being mannish. Do you truly not recognize this outfit?”

I stepped back to get a better look. When it finally clicked, I snapped my fingers. “Our first date.”

“Exactly. I had to sneak out the house so Daddy wouldn’t catch me in it.”

“Cress would’ve been on yo’ ass if he saw you. So, what’s the occasion?”

“It’s the anniversary of our first date, so I figured we’d recreate it,” Moya explained. “Go in yo’ room and see what I have for you.”

I pecked her lips and went to see what she had up her sleeves. My shoulders bounced from how hard I laughed upon seeing the outfit she had laid out for me. “How did you find outfits so close to what we had?”

“The power of social media. Get dressed and meet me out back.”

“Will do. Where’s Ocean?”

“He’s with your mom. She called me earlier, asking if it was okay for her to get him tonight. It actually worked out perfectly because I was going to ask Daddy to keep him tonight to do this for us.”

“Damn. Angela could’ve called me. It’s all good. I’ll let her know ’bout herself.”

“Don’t be jealous.” Moya snickered. “I’m about to go finish getting everything together. I’ll see you soon.”

With that, she left out of the room, leaving me with the biggest smile on my face. I took off my clothes and put on the oversized T-shirt and baggy jeans. I felt crazy as hell with them on. The shit we used to rock was wild. Once I was done, I headed out to the backyard where Moya had transformed it to look exactly like our first date.

Planning our first date was nerve-racking for me. I remember being nervous as hell, but thankfully, August and Wednesday helped me plan everything. They saw how much I liked Moya and went all out. It was amazing to see Moya remembered every detail, down to what we wore.

She stood by the picnic table that was covered with a black-and-white checkered cloth. On one side of the table, the food was set up while the other side had board games. I stopped in my tracks to admire Moya. She had on a spray-painted T-shirt with her name in pink, purple, and blue with the shorts I wanted to rip right off her. Her hair was curled to perfection, just like the women wore back in the day, with a spiky look. No matter what, Moya could rock any look.

“Damn. You got it down to a T, Love. This is dope.”

“Isn’t it?” She beamed. “Come one. Let me whup you in a game of Trouble really quick.”

“Now, you know I let you win, right? Let’s be real. You can’t beat me in anything.”
