“I think that’s an exaggeration?" I asked, stilling as I tried to read what he meant. Not being able to see his face really wasn’t helping me read his voice.
“Yes, yes it’s an exaggeration," Kai said, lifting his head enough for him to not be muffled by the bed. “But fuck me already, Aiden. I’m good. Just —”
I took him at his word and pushed into him until I was fully seated. He groaned, putting his face back down as he began cursing with every thrust into him.
This wouldn’t last long, but I knew with Kai it wouldn’t matter.
We had plenty of time for more moments together.
“Fuck, Aiden… You feel amazing,” Kai praised. “Shit, right there.”
It didn’t take long, Kai coming first with a moan and myself a few moments later calling out Kai’s name.
We fell over on our sides and I pulled out gently, not wanting to hurt him.
We lay there sweaty, chests heaving as we both turned to look at each other at the same time. Kai stared at me for a moment before he smiled and I knew that I was matching his look.
Happy.
That’s how I felt in that moment. Bone-deep happy.
I’d found an omega. I was with my best friend.
I loved them both.
“That was amazing,” I said, curling around him.
“It was,” he agreed, running a hand through my hair. “We need a shower.”
“Or we could sleep and then take a shower later?” I asked, even more tired now than I was before.
Kai started laughing and I’m sure he was going to say something when I heard the front door opening and I could hear Dean talking with someone on the phone.
The man beside me sat up and looked at me with a furrowed brow.
“Might wanna rain check the nap for now, Aiden. Dean doesn’t sound happy. We should go figure out what’s going on.”
Tillie
Jack and I barely pulled to a stop when Dean came rushing out of the house towards us. I climbed out, nervous about what could have caused that reaction.
“Hang on, Jett,” he said quickly into his phone before pulling me close. “There you are.”
Why does he sound relieved?
“We were out shopping for a new mattress. What’s going on?” I asked, studying his face that had some serious worry lines now.
“Jonathan was spotted in town,” he admitted. “Jett and the family have been helping me keep an eye out and I guess he was lurking around the outdoor store. I didn’t like the sound of that.”
My stomach dropped. No, definitely not. Jonathan was not the outdoorsy type. Which meant he was either trying to change to fit inside the mold he thought my pack did, or he was escalating to something I didn’t want to look too deep into.
“I need you to stay here with them, Jack,” Dean said. “I’m going into town to make sure he leaves or find out what he’s up to.”
“I’ll keep them safe,” Jack promised. Dean gave me a quick kiss before pressing the phone to his ear and rushing to his truck.
“I didn’t even get to tell him about the heat,” I said to Jack as he started to lead me inside.
“You can tell the others, then we can catch him up when he’s back,” he promised. Once we were inside, he quietly set the alarm then checked the windows. “I’m going to call the security company to keep an extra eye out and so they have the orders to call the police if he even comes up on the cameras.”
