Jack and Dean had unashamedly claimed my bed with me. And for once, we simply slept. After everything with Jonathan ruining our date, I needed them. I’d have settled for us all, but we needed a bigger bed before that was possible.
“Kai’s usually up by now, I’m not sure,” Jack admitted as he carried in a big platter of sausage and bacon.
“I’ll go wake them up,” I offered as I stepped back out and went through the house toward the room they’d claimed. I pushed the door open gently and froze, barely containing an excited squeal.
They weren’t just both sleeping… They were sharing a bed. Cuddled up together. Right now, Aiden’s head was resting on Kai’s chest and their legs were tangled together. It went beyond friendly.
“Fucking finally,” Dean whispered beside me, holding up his phone to snap a picture. I couldn’t help but do the same, before setting it as my phone’s wallpaper.
“They’re so cute,” I whispered back, my grin so wide it almost hurt.
“It’s been a long time coming. Why don’t I leave you to wake them?” he teased, stepping out and closing the door behind me.
I moved closer and called out quietly to them. Neither one of them stirred.
“Wake up, Kai. Aiden. Breakfast,” I tried again. Aiden groaned and nuzzled into Kai’s chest while Kai looked up at me, then back at him. I knew I still had the same goofy grin, and he just gave me a wink and kissed the top of Aiden’s head.
“Morning,” Aiden muttered, reaching out and pulling me into the bed with them. “There we go. Now it’s a good morning.”
I laughed, snuggling into my betas, happy to ignore my hunger as I savored my time with them.
Kai pressed a kiss to my cheek, both of them snuggling in around me.
“I see you both had a good night after we got back,” I teased lightly, not bothering to hide my smile. “I’m glad to see something good come of yesterday since our group date was interrupted.”
“We still had an amazing date,” Kai reassured me, his hands running along my sides as if he couldn’t help himself. “You found that amazing board game place with cool people that run it. We had our serious talk and are all on the same page.”
“We are?” Aiden asked, insecurity showing through with a slight tremble in his voice.
“Yes,” I told him firmly. “I think just figuring out what being a pack means and enjoying this time together is good enough.”
Aiden relaxed against me, some hidden thread of tension in his body gone at this final reassurance.
Just then my stomach rumbled.
Loudly.
I burst out laughing, unable to contain my good humor as I forced myself to get up.
“That’s the sign to not ignore breakfast anymore. Come on downstairs, Dean and Jack made food. We have farm chores to do, then the courthouse in town to file paperwork. And I think Jack mentioned something about getting a few things while we were there, so… get up, lazy bones. The day is waiting.”
“Ughhh…” Aiden groaned, hiding his face in Kai’s chest. “I’m not hungry.”
“I’m not saving anything for you,” I warned him and then left the room with a skip in my step.
Before I headed down, I could hear Kai sweet talking Aiden to get out of bed and help with the animals, and if I wasn’t mistaken, I heard a small gasp and soft laugh of male satisfaction.
I just loved how amazing this pack was together.
My heart was so warmed up by seeing them together that it chased away most of the cold feeling lingering from last night.
“I hear we have news?” Jack smiled as I walked in. He even pulled out my chair for me and started piling my plate with all the things he knows I like. This pack was too good to me.
“They’re adorable,” I said, showing him my phone. His expression softened. He was just as pleased to see them together as I was. “Kai is trying to convince Aiden to get out of bed.”
“Honestly, that’s a full-time job. Aiden’s sleep schedule has always been a mess,” Dean said as he buttered his biscuit and added a spoonful of jelly.
Kai and Aiden stumbled in a few minutes later. Kai was dressed and smiling while Aiden was half a zombie. Once Dean slid a mug of coffee in front of him, he drank half of it down in one go.
