This was supposed to be a one night stand but my alpha was finally awake and standing tall, demanding I go after her.

I finished up quickly and washed my hands before venturing out into the farmhouse. Her room was open and empty, the house silent. She must have gone out to feed the animals.

Right as I reached the front door I belatedly realized I forgot to snag my clothes from her bedroom floor. Rushing back I got dressed quickly and then headed outside to see where the omega had gone.

Outside, the sun was rising and I blinked a few times trying to see if what I was seeing was correct.

She wasn’t kidding about the animals.

From just the front porch, I saw a few goats, some pigs, and quite a few chickens including a rooster that had to be the Lenoard she’d yelled at earlier.

Looking around, I tried to spot her and saw a barn door open.

I was more than a little hesitant as I headed in that direction and she came out with a smile on her face that grew as I approached.

“Sorry, it’s a bit early for people that aren’t farmers,” she apologized, making me realize I had no idea what time it was. I patted my pockets and remembered that I had left my cell phone back at my place. “But if you wouldn’t mind helping me carry some things then I’ll get this done and we can eat.”

I looked at her and then at the animals, uncertainty filling me since I knew absolutely nothing about any of these farm animals.

Nothing.

She smiled sweetly, no maliciousness there as she said she’d take care of it. Guilt filled me as she went about her business taking care of the animals as I stood there feeling useless.

I chewed my bottom lip determined to learn more about them beyond the 8-bit video game realm and know more the next time I saw her.

Next time? My inner alpha questioned. You don’t even know her name.

Walking back to her front porch I sat down on the small bench swing and after a little while, she came up to join me with a skip in her step.

She looked me over and as if she could read my mind. The omega shook her head. “Don’t feel bad, city boy. You help me with breakfast and we’re good. Make the coffee and I’ve got some fresh eggs to use for us.”

We made breakfast together, easily working around each other in the cozy, small kitchen. She pointed out where the grinder and french press were to make a batch for us to drink.

Humming and singing softly she came over and showed me how to do things when I hesitated and then easily went back to cooking the food. She never made me feel like I was less of an alpha as she helped, just matter-of-factly told me what to do then moved on.

A little while later we were outside on the porch eating the best scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast I’ve ever had in my life.

She smiled proudly, her scent intensifying as I praised her cooking.

Even the coffee was better than I could remember. Or maybe, she had simply rewritten everything I’d ever known in my life. Like this was the moment I first started to live.

Okay wow… That was dramatic.

“You look like you’re thinking a bit hard over there. No regrets about last night, I hope?” For the first time this goddess’ confidence faltered but I refused to let that thought take hold.

“Last night was incredible. The best night of my life,” I reassured her with an easy smile.

I just wasn’t sure where to go from here. The pack was likely wondering where the hell I went and she had a life.

The last thing I wanted to do was walk away, though.

“My phone is back at my place,” I admitted, frowning. For the first time in my life, I couldn’t figure out the easy answer to a simple problem.

“No worries. Do you know your number? Just give it to me and I can program it in and text you,” she offered, pulling hers out of the front pocket of her daisy covered, bright pink overalls. She had a white crop top underneath, looking every bit the adorable omega.

When she handed it over, I easily put my number in. As I was typing my name in, I realized we had yet to exchange those.

“Oh, uh, I’m in there under Jack. That’s my name,” I said, letting out an awkward chuckle.
