“His name is Earl and it seems he likes you. Though, I’m going to have to talk to him about his manners,” she sighed before reaching up to pet the cat as he settled and laid down wrapped around Kai’s neck. “He never likes anyone.”

“I’m not really—”

Aiden cleared his throat pointedly, stopping our packmate from insulting our omega. He sat down carefully, trying not to disturb the strange feline.

That’s when I focused on the frankencat before us. Not only did he somehow climb up with only three legs, he was missing an eye so when he glared, it was lopsided.

“Oh my god, is he purring?” Tillie gasped before plopping herself right in Kai’s lap. His wide eyes watched her as she reached up to give her cat attention while accidentally giving Kai a facefull of her chest.

He closed his eyes for a moment. I wasn’t sure if he was begging the universe for strength or being respectful, but his face was red and pained.

“Ow,” he protested, eyes flying open. Tillie gasped and started to move but his hands hooked her hips and pulled her back. “Not you, Tillie. He’s poking me with his claws.”

“He’s making biscuits,” she cooed, giving him a fond ear scratch before looking down at the beta she’d claimed as her throne. “Maybe I misjudged you on our first meeting, he’s not taken by anyone this easily, even me.”

“It wasn’t my finest first impression,” Kai all but pouted, making her laugh.

“I think I like you more when you’re not trying to be anything,” she said, booping his nose before getting up and waving Dean and I toward the grill. “Let’s get this going before we all starve.”

Kai sat there still as a statue, though at least some of the fear had seeped away.

“Maybe we should have gotten a cat for the packhouse a long time ago.” Aiden’s words had Kai narrowing his eyes.

“I’m glad you didn’t,” Tillie called back from the grill, waving her tongs toward the cat wrapped around Kai. “He doesn’t play well with other cats. I had to rehome some strays.”

She was already planning on us combining our lives. Thank fuck, because so was I.

It seems I wasn’t the only one to register her casual remark about staying around as the others all looked at each other then her with even more interest.

There was no way we were going to let this omega go.

Tillie

“Tillie Ashford?!” an unknown voice called out as I finished up the last of the chicken on the grill.

I turned, almost hitting Dean with the tongs as a delivery guy was standing right by my gate.

“Yes, this is she,” I answered cautiously, not going any closer to the gate.

“I have a delivery here for you,” he answered, with a wide customer service smile. “Just wanted to make sure I was at the right farm. Hold on one sec.”

“A delivery?” I asked, brow furrowing as I passed the tongs to Jack and started walking to the gate as Aiden and Kai both shifted their focus away from Earl who was still draped over Kai.

The delivery guy walked back over with a big bouquet of flowers. Carnations, baby’s breath, and a few roses in random colors. It was an odd combination but I didn’t want to be rude.

Oh maybe the guys got them and had the flowers delivered as a surprise!

“These are for you. Have a great day!”

I grabbed the pot as he pushed it towards me and then barely saw his goodbye wave around the petals before turning to the guys.

“You guys didn’t have to get me flowers. They’re beautiful!” I gushed, hurrying over to the table to put them down.

“Umm… Tillie—” Aiden started before Jack cut in.

“We didn’t get you flowers.”

Thankfully, someone took pity on me and took the giant bouquet from my hands.
