“I’ve never really nested. Not in preparation for a heat,” I admitted, letting insecurity creep back in. I was even giving myself whiplash at this point.

“Sit down, have a cookie, and think about what you want to do. I have a feeling your omega will handle the rest,” Jack said gently. I offered them each a cookie before taking a bite of my own. The sweet and salty mix of chocolatey goodness was exactly what I needed.

But my eyes stayed on the nest. The urge to move was strong enough that I sat my cookie on the island and got to work. I unloaded everything, eyeing the nest before finding the perfect place everywhere.

That perfect place changed a few times, but in thirty minutes, everything was there and my mates were watching on… Shirtless now thanks to me stealing their clothes, and my omega was content.

I sat in the middle, feeling quite proud of myself when they joined, Aiden handing me back my cookie.

“So, now we’ve got some time to kill, and I found this amazing co-op game. You up for something new, omega?” Kai asked with an excited grin.

“Like what?”

I eyed the beta who just grinned at me. He reached over for a new game system that I had never seen before. It looked like a headset of some kind that covered your eyes.

“What is that?” I asked, curious as he put it on his head.

“Are you sure this is a co-op game?” Jack questioned as Kai started doing something as he stood there shirtless in the middle of the nest.

“Oh for sure,” Kai said, hands moving around as if he was doing stuff that I couldn’t see. “So, we have to all work together to play the game cause we all only have one piece of the puzzle and have to work together to share the information to solve things.”

I looked confused, but Aiden said it would make sense as we played.

What followed was complete and utter chaos, fun, and light gamer rage.

“What the hell do you mean a blue squiggly star line?! That doesn't even make sense,” Aiden yelled out at Kai trying to describe something.

“That’s all I can see!”

“I don’t see anything blue,” Jack decided to add on.

“Then maybe you’re colorblind alpha,” Kai shot back.

“Look, why don’t we take a calm breath and try to describe things again,” I tried to reason with them.

“Look, Tillie, this is what it looks like. I can’t describe it another way.”

“Try using different words then, Kai!” I called back at his exasperated tone.

“Look at you becoming a full gamer.” Dean’s deep voice startled us enough that we all yelled out and took off our VR sets.

None of us had heard him come in and I blinked a few times to realize it was night time.

Oh shit!

“Don’t worry about the animals, Tillie,” Dean said, holding up a hand to stave off any protests. “The guy you hired, Daniel, was here and took care of the animals. I went around and made sure everything was up to your standards. He’s really good, Tillie. You chose a great person to help out.”

“Oh, thank goodness! I forgot he was coming by today.” My cheeks burned in embarrassment and he chuckled as he came over, pulling me into a hug.

“What’re you guys playing? And… is this a nest?”

“Yeah, about that,” I hedged, glancing over at the nest and back at him. “Remember when I picked up my meds a while back? Apparently, my suppressants were recalled. They weren’t effective and I could have a heat any day now,” I admitted in a rush.

A wicked grin spread across his face. “So, you mean to tell me that we get to devour you for a whole week?”

“Yes,” I said with a chuckle.

“And the birth control is working, so we’re safe there,” Aiden tacked on, making me snort out a laugh.
