“I know what you saw, which is why I’m here. To tell you in person that it’s not true.”
The corner of her mouth hitched as she slowly walked to where I stood at the end of the Mazda.
“This feels like déjà vu. Except the first time, I wasn’t ready to admit I was in a relationship, even though I was in one. And this time…”
I brushed hair away from her beautiful face as I stared down at her.
“And this time…?” I prompted.
“This time, I’m not in a relationship but am ready to admit I’d like to be.”
I scanned her eyes, searching for a hint that she might change her mind.
“I need you to be sure. Because I’m in love with you, and I’m not going to hide it.”
Her arm looped around my neck as she pulled me closer.
“Good,” she whispered with her lips brushing against mine. “Because I love you, too. And I’m ready to let the whole town know I have a boyfriend.”
Fucking finally!
I thought about swooping her up in my arms and carrying her inside, but decided against it. Falling while I tried to make a grand, romantic gesture would kind of kill the vibe.
“Can we go inside so I can make love to my girlfriend?”
She took my hand and led me through the door.

Justin paused in the kitchen to pet Dora, who’d greeted us the second we entered the kitchen. She must have been awake when she heard the garage door go up, otherwise, I’d have to be the one to wake her. When she realized Justin was with me, she cried with happiness, her tail wagging a mile a minute.
“She’s so happy to see you.”
He looked up at me with a cocky grin. “I am pretty great.”
“No argument there.”
He moved to the sink to wash his hands, so I handed him a paper towel to dry them off, then said, “Come on, boyfriend. You owe me some makeup sex.”
“I couldn’t agree more, girlfriend.”
We walked up the stairs in comfortable silence, but it felt like there was an underlying current of electricity between us. That’s when I realized I was nervous.
Once inside my room, I closed the door and leaned against it when I confessed, “I’ve never had sex with a boyfriend before.”
“Well,” he said as he slid my sweater off my arms and dropped it on the floor. “It’s just like regular sex,” he paused to plant kisses along my bare shoulder and neck. When he reached my ear, he softly breathed, “Only better.”
My skin erupted in goosebumps, something he must have noticed because he chuckled as he pulled the zipper down on my dress.
“What makes it better?” I murmured as he removed my dress, leaving me in nothing but my lacy pink bra and matching panties.
He stepped back to look me up and down with one raised eyebrow.
“That’s some pretty sexy underwear. You sure it was just a night out with the girls?”
“Do you like it?”
