He releases me and I pick up my fork and stab at the stir fry, knowing I’ll be eating as little rice as possible.

“Good girl,” he says in that low sexy voice that insinuates filthy things.

“That is not helping.”

He grins before playing innocent.

“Oh you don’t like that, Angel? Good to know. I’ll never say it again.”

I pop the broccoli into my mouth, and chew it. After swallowing, I point my fork at him in a playful but threatening manner.

“We both know, I like it a little too much. It makes me want to do other things that do not involve me consuming a thousand carbohydrates but instead burning them.”

He starts eating his food as well but then suddenly stops. He pauses mid bite, his angry gaze burning a hole through me.

“Are we going to have another conversation about your unhealthy obsession with fucking carbs, Mia? Is that what we’re doing?”

I shrug my shoulders and go back to eating. In between bites I say, “I lost twenty pounds in the hospital. Maybe I can lose more. That’s all.”

Jett shakes his head.

“You are fucking beautiful as you are. Lose weight, don’t lose weight. I don’t care. Gain weight for all I care. I just don’t like seeing you obsessing over it like there is something wrong with you. Goddamn it, Mia, you’re perfect. I wish you could see what I see.”

I know he loves me and accepts me as I am. My weight is not an issue for him, but I do wonder about my face which he has not said a single word about.

“And this one scar on my face that’s probably here for life now?”

He shrugs as he shovels more food into his mouth, a devilish glint in his eyes.

“It’s sexy. I like it.”

I shake my head at him because it’s ridiculous. This damn two inch scar across my forehead is not sexy. It’s ugly which is why I now have bangs to cover it.

“Eat your food, Angel and then I’ll give you anything you want.”

Well, that’s the motivation I needed although, there’s no way I can finish this entire plate. He put enough food in front of me for five grown adults. Still, I’ll do the best I can because he said whatever I want and I have a list ready.

He chuckles softly when I set my fork down after I’ve finished as much as I am capable of.

“What does my angel want?”

I take the napkin to my face, and then take a sip of my water before answering.

“I have a list prepared.”

He flashes me a smile and it makes me weak the way his dimple in his right cheek shows. Since he’s been out of rehab, I see it a lot more. Jett is not only clean but happier.

“Go on.” He says with an even bigger grin.

“I want sunshine.”

The disappointment on his face is apparent, and I giggle before continuing.

“And you. And-”

He sighs audibly, “Angel, you’re killing me.”

“Semi-public sex,” I admit, feeling the burn in my cheeks.
