“There was no way I could stay there while you were in the hospital fighting for your life. I needed to be with you. Fuck, Angel, you’re my entire world. I thought you were dying. My source of light was disappearing and I was supposed to stay locked up in a fucking rehab? When the choice is you or anything else, I’ll always choose you.”
“Goddamn it, Jett,” she breathes and fuck, I want to kiss her but I don’t want to hurt her with all those cuts on her face.
“Have you used?”
I shake my head no.
“I’ve been here the entire time and have not left, but I’m not going to use, Mia. I’m going to stay clean. For you, for me, for us. It won’t always be easy. There will continue to be days where I struggle to not inject that shit into my veins. If it comes down to it, I will go back to rehab. I promise you, I will not fucking use.”
The corners of her lips lift into a small smile.
“I knew you could do it. I’m so proud of you.”
Fuck. This woman is everything. I’m not the guy that needs to hear that anyone is proud of them. Hearing it from her lips though, drives me crazy.
Rising from the chair, I say, “I need to fucking kiss you. I’m going to put my hands in my pockets so I don’t touch you without thinking about it but I need to taste your lips.
“I haven’t brushed my teeth,” she squeaks.
I chuckle as I stuff my hands into my pockets.
“I don’t care if you haven’t brushed your teeth for a fucking year. I am kissing you.”
She giggles a soft giggle that makes my cock very aware of the gorgeous woman in front of me.
“That’s gross, Jett.”
Leaning down, I press my lips to hers. I’m careful to keep it slow and non aggressive but it’s difficult. My angel is here and alive. My tongue swirls around hers as I make myself a vow. Whatever I have to do, I will not fuck this up.

Chapter Forty-Three
MIA
I have been in the hospital for three weeks and two days, so when I heard the words, ‘you’re being discharged,’ I nearly jumped out of the bed with glee. However the words that followed detailing physical therapist, pulmonary specialist and neurologist visits overwhelmed me. Luckily Jett was there and asked the nurse to print out all the details for us to look over later.

Once I was discharged Jett made it very clear I would be going home with him so that he could continue to take care of me. I thought Kins would fight him on it, but surprisingly she gave him more trust than I expected.
“Angel, eat.” Jett says with a slight edge to his voice.
There’s something weird about thinking you’re dying and then living through it. I don’t want to take time to eat. I want to do all the things I thought I would never do again. The urge to go outside and stand in the sunshine is strong. Shopping is another, because who doesn’t love shopping? Although at the top of my list is having Jett inside me again. I’ve been craving him physically for days.
I bat my eyelashes as I try to appear sexy.
“Maybe you need something to eat.”
“Mia,” He growls, causing me to flinch.
Reaching across his dining room table, he places his hand on my chin and tilts my head back. He sounded angry but his touch is gentle.
“Please, Angel. I need you to eat. Let me take care of you.”
I have a plate of food in front of me, I’ve yet to touch, but his words make me feel guilty.
“I’ll eat.”
