I smirk at him. “Yeah, you’re welcome, by the way.”
He folds his arms over his chest and continues his glare.
“If you don’t get clean, you’ll lose whatever fucking chance you think you have with her.”
I chuckle obnoxiously.
“She knows what I am. Who I am. I’m pretty sure you don’t want to spend your wedding night trying to save me from myself.”
He glances over to his wife to make sure she’s still a distance away and leans in closer so nobody else hears us.
“There’s no saving you, Jett. You have to be the one to save yourself. You’re hell bent on personal destruction. That’s your choice. I’m just asking you to not take an innocent woman along for the ride.”
I ignore him and walk over to Mia and grab her arm again.
“Time to go, Angel.”
She opens her mouth to argue but snaps it shut quickly when she sees the expression on my face. Wise choice, although I’m more than slightly disappointed. There’s nothing I would’ve enjoyed more than spanking her ass on the way to the hotel.
“Are you driving?” she asks as I pull her to the front door and chuckle in response.
“No. I’m an asshole, not an idiot. I don’t drive under the influence.”
That’s not entirely true because I have, but not with her. I’ll never risk her safety. My own? Sure, but never Mia. We make it out to the limo and the driver waits with the door open. I motion for her to slide in and move beside her before he shuts the door.
“What about the other guys?”
I flash her a devious grin.
“I’m done sharing you. Now, I’m going to have you all to myself for the entire night and the next several days.”
Mia chews on her bottom lip nervously. Lifting her gaze to mine, she smiles shyly.
“And what will you do with me, Jett?”
I grab her waist and pull her onto my lap and wrap my arm around her, holding her close to me.
“Filthy things, Angel.”
She runs her fingers down my tie with a soft smile on her lips.
“Good. I like filthy things.”
I tug at her bottom lip with my teeth, causing her to whimper.
“And you’re going to tell me all your secrets, Mia. I want to know everything there is to know about you.”
Her complexion turns pale as a ghost and I’m not sure what I said to cause it. I go over my previous statement in my head.
Secrets. That’s all I said. I want to know everything about her. It was simple, but clearly there’s something she’s hiding from me. Maybe it’s something she keeps hidden from everybody. I wrap my arms around her and pull her into my chest.
“Whatever it is, you don’t need to be afraid. You're safe with me, Angel.”
She’s quiet, but I feel the wetness from her tears against my neck.
“Talk to me,” I demand. The need to know her pain and secrets wrecks me. I might not have peace but I will destroy anything that threatens hers.
Mia whispers softly.
